I immediately recognised Brendan Coyle as Robert Timmins of Lark Rise fame. The maid Joanne Froggat was Zoe Tattersall in Corrie but I am sure she was once in Eastenders - can't find a reference to it anywhere tho I am not a Corrie fan particularly so not sure why I am getting confused, can't recall her character in that at all.

I loved the first episode and can't wait till the next one, it looks really good.

It was a hit in my book. You dont normally get period dramas on ITV so its good to see that they produced a cracker!

I think it will be great.Once we get to know the different characters. You know, the goodies ,baddies etc.Even my OH sat and watched it ,and he never watches TV !!!!!!

Julia Report 27 Sep 2010 10:22

Sadly, I did not watch this. Yes I know, I will probably be the only person in the country that doesn't. But there is logic in my madness.
The OH is not given much to this kind of programme, so I knew what it would be like if I wanted to see it. (Remembers Our Empress Queen and her It's My Telly).
Now, we both like George Gently with the lovely Martin Shaw, that was on BBC1. So, we watched this together.
The logic in my madness. HE can buy it for me on DVD, when it comes out, as punishment. He,he,he. LOLOL

I like your style Julia - have already requested DVD as cannot abide the advert breaks - although I did watch it.
Julian Fellowes is a superb writer in 2002 he gained Academy Award for Gosforth Park.

Spent most of time wondering where have I seen him/her before. Thanks to this thread I know. OH watched George and I recorded it.

I have also wondered who people were.......I couldn't remember where I had seen one of the daughters played by Laura Carmichael. The penny dropped this morning when I couldn't find anything on the net to jog my memory. I have looked in the Award ceremony of Bristol University and Laura graduated from there in 2007. I have seen her lots of times at the Bristol Old Vic along with my son who was in the same group. I am soooooo happy for her as acting is such a precarious profession and even as a student she was brilliant.-JLe

having been without lappy for a few days I have had to curb my usage on OH's lappy. I missed out a lot of this.
Motown lol I didn't have a lappy but apart from that we can't get ITV player on our IP addresses.

So should I be watching it next week ? What I have seen on the 'news' it looks good
