Well.... I went sideways, and looked at the names of the cavalier's wives and children, lolol

so

Henrietta (Etta for short)

Anne (could stretch it to Annie)

Lettice.... could be Letty, but it isn't pronounced the same as the salad, lololol

Red theme..... Carmen (nearly like Carmine) Rose Red

Love

Many Thanks to you all (too many to thank individually) for your help, advice, and suggestions on naming this puppy, so many lovely names for my daughter to choose from (daughter is 20 yrs old, and has been nagging us to get her a dog for a least ten years)! oh retired early this year as he'd not been well for about a year, so we've got time to devote to a dog. (I'm more worried about the reaction of my cat - she knows something's up).
Thank you again for your help and advice it's much appreciated.
I'll let you know what name she chooses,
Best Wishes,

ShelleyRose.

My King Charles has the pedigree name Dark Black Knight, so my boys wanted to call him Batman!!!
Alfie suits him soooo much better , but he gets called all sorts of names, dooofus normally when he's being silly!!!
They are very clever dogs and very very quickly let you know who's dog they are, Alf is definatley mummys dog!! do not be misguided into thinking that just because they are small they cannot jump high, the stairgate is a pointless obstacle that just gets in our way, and in no way prevents the dog from getting out of the boot room!!!

Ask the breeder to put a blanket in with the mother for when you bring her home. It will help settle her into her new home as she will have mums scent with her.

Lady, after the beautiful red King Charles spaniel in 'Lady and the Tramp' :O)

Well I am going from the red theme to a King Charles theme - have a choice of Nell or Gwyn! Remember Charles said on his deathbed 'let not poor Nellie starve'! Apart from ticking clock - hot water bottle under a blanket - she will miss the warmth of her siblings and mother and an old small cuddly toy.

Shelley how lovely to have a new pup and King Charles are gorgeous.
How old is your daughter ? and how long to intend on having the animal before daughter gets hands on it?
I ask this because I think you will find no matter what you call it daughter will name it something different . Some lovely names coming in on the Red theme (I like tinto being a wine person lol)

Esta having had Cav already will probably give you the best advice about the breed, although I would have been tempted to say let the pup and cat meet straight away. They will get used to each other and cat will put pup in her place.

If she is coming straight from mum / litter and she cries at night use an old type clock (that has a tick) under her bedding, (it gives them the feel of a heart beat and lulls them )
Most of all enjoy her as a puppy and take lots of photos, worse than kids they grow so fast.

Ginger, Ruby, Saffron

Shelly, my suggestion, keeping on the red theme, is Cherry. A clear, sound two syllable name, for easy command to a dog, and easy for a little girl.
