I was just talking on the phone when there was a loud bang on the window, D looked out a bird had hit it and was lying dead...I finished on the phone, D says we'd better go andd move dead bird..went to patio door, outside is a small mouse in shock, having got that in a container to recover ( or probably die) we go outside..no dead bird!

A mystery worthy of Miss Marple lol

Perhaps a cat passed unseen and decided to take it home as a prezzie for his owners.

Lost interest in playing with mouse when kamakazi bird came along.

Or the bird was magically transfigured into a mouse by professor McGonagall to help it make a quick escape..... ( lol H P fan)

Hello Rose - Good to see you, but what are you on today, tell D to look after you! J*

Lol J* , my mental state is the result of constant packing of boxes to move again! Funny thing is D has been going on all week about how he'd like to breed mice... I'll blame him ;)

The bird now appears as a substitute in "The Dead Parrot" sketch from Monty Python.

"I'm not dead" :-)

Amanda2003 Report 10 Oct 2010 18:03

Was the bird some type of Hawk ( which was carrying a mouse in it's beak when it hit your window ? ) . The bird was obviously just concussed and recovered to fly away : ))

Rambling Report 10 Oct 2010 18:07

Lol Tooty Fruity,

I'll let you know address soon J* :))

That's what I thought Amanda but D said the 'dead bird' was a young pigeon...a greedy hawk carrying both? ( lol do you think this has anything to do with me dreaming about that hawk the other night lol)

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 10 Oct 2010 18:14

Well I did half wonder Rose ....lol.....so it was a stunned pigeon then , maybe it landed on the mouse and gave it a terrible shock.....lol

Or ....perhaps a greedy Hawk had already caught the mouse and then pursued the pigeon but ended up losing both ? It does all seem rather odd .

Mousey is still alive, in the spare gerbil cage withsome gerbil food in case he rallies ( raises eyes to heaven lol why me ;))

TootyFruity

TootyFruity Report 10 Oct 2010 18:44

Mousey must be sat there in the gerbil cage thinking

"I knew I shouldn't of got up this morning, but a least I get fed here"

Wonder if pigeon was trying to escape from the claws of Dick Dastardly and Mutley :-)

Rose we had the same experience a while ago after hearing a loud bang from upstairs.

Looked at window thinking we'd see glass had broken, switched on the light and there was a perfect 'impression ' of a big bird's wings....spooky as it appeared like an angel's ......silvery white!

Must have been a seagull.........didn't have a mystery of a mouse though....

Makes you jump doesn't it Mau? We had a barn owl do it once, he was ok but gave us a chance to see him close to!

We took mouse outside a little while ago in a plastic container and laid it gently on side with lots of ground cover and some food by it, just been out and he has gone from container, so fingers crossed he will recover poor little thing.

Glad to hear he has recovered enough to be on his way:-)

I agree with Mau at the Coast, he would have been glad to have met you today.

I would have been hopeless.

I'm used to it lol, we always had something being looked after in a box in the corner when I was young a stray cat, rabbit or chicken ;) would have adopted lol but I felt mousey had a better chance if back in his own environment as soon as we could :))
