Thanks for those Shirley ..will look in to them further when i have time later.

The Furniss/Furness name seems to be very popular in the Derby area...Charles was born there, i will take a look at 1911 and see if theres a Charlotte Furniss of that age in derby then and then see if I can eliminate her.
As for Emma ...her birth reg just says Emma but she may have been Emma louise...its a pity basic birth info dos`nt give their marital status..I have no idea of her birth date as she was grandmothers sister I don`t have the cert.....just try and always get them for the direct line.

thanks Shirley, certainly food for thought

I have a number of deaths in my family that were registered many miles from where the person lived. For example a death in Croydon, Surrey, registered in Devon, another in Horsham, Sussex registered in Sutton, Surrey. There are others. This has happened simple because the office was closed and the person going to register the death had to be elsewhere.

hi nicky, sorry i didnt get back to you yesterday. i had quite a search around and can see why you are so frustrated at not finding her. one thing i found on free bmd was under her maiden name, it gives her marriage to charles as francis not furniss/furness!! i think it is probably mis read.

just a thought but would she of remarried someone else, if only for a short while. my own gr grandma did just that and nobody knew about it. she was only married for 4 years until she died. some kind person found that info for me on here.

so hopefully she will be found, just have to be patient. will keep on looking and get back to you
happy searching

Thanks Florence for searching....you can see my dilemma.......

Had considered she may have remarried but was in her 60`s ...not impossible, Charles was on a Pension from the Railways...would`nt that have then gone to her as a Widow? ..if so i doubt she would have remarried as she would then have lost the Pension.

Yes the marriage is registered as Francis on the GRO...I got the cert, through Lancs BMD and they have it correct as Furniss...theres nothing i can do about the GRO entry being wrong.

Thanks for looking

Eddie...Yes thanks for that, i have looked countrywide not just focusing on Lancashire and south London, but still no luck.
