You want to try this Mick. It is a bit like playing the lottery.

Just had one 'photo' that was lots of little squares with words in, like "The one I need to get in touch with" etc and that one was hilighted. Identified my two grandsons and one other certainty so that is three, but still didn't get in.

When I first logged onto FB from my Kindle, it told me someone was trying to access my FB from the USA and asked me to identify 5 people from MY OWN photo albums-I didnt have any problem doing so.

Berona it is nothing to do with log in, I can do that. If you check back a few posts you will see what happens, basically as soon as I log in I get thrown to the security page to verify my identity. I defy anyone at all to do this and would be interested to know anyone who has done.

I am so glad I deleted my FB account a year or so ago. I just didnt feel comfy with all sorts of strangers talking to each other on my page.

I suppose you have tried this, but in case you haven't?

FB won't allow me to login if I use a lower-case first letter - it has to be capital (for the password).

AnninGlos Report 12 Oct 2010 22:27

Well I had another go and this time they let me have about five goes. I recognised only 2 people but that is not surprising. One photo was of a car, one was of an old car with 3 little children sitting on it. Several were of young children. Two were of school classes. I recognized Daff and my grandson.

I really don't think they should use photos of young children in these security checks. Wish I could tell them that.

Thanks Clare. If nothing else I hope this alerts everyone to the problems of being locked out.

AnninGlos Report 12 Oct 2010 21:54

Clare I don't think that it would work using the forgotten password because they will have the lockout against my e mail address I'm sure. Funny enough two days ago they had the nerve to send me a 'come back to facebook' message. which, when I clicked on the link didn't work of course still threw me into the loop.

Thanks Ugger, I don't object to the security as such but it is a stupid way of doing it. You might recognise your friend's photos but would you recognise their children/grandchildren. I just had another go and four of the photos were children aged about eleven/twelve. I would not have recognised the photos of the people as I have not met any of that list of five. I sure as anything didn't recognise their children. And one was a photo of two figures so far in the distance they probanly wouldn't recognise themselves. I think they are taking photos from the albums people have on their. A totally weird way of proving anything.

As it happens I don't spend too much time on there but I do like it for keeping in touch with two grandsons and my sister and my niece.

How irritating is that, Ann :) It's never happened to me and I'm lucky in that I know all my friends (with a couple of exceptions) really well cos I would be going mad if I couldn't get on there. Hope it gets sorted soon:)

Have answered your PM Clare but it is no secret. It was in Tenerife, had my lap top. on this my home pc I have my password all ready to automatically log on so I don't need to remember it. I wouldn't normally go on facebook while away, in fact I don't go on much when at home. However I had a message from my sister on there, went to log in, couldn't for the life of me remember which of my passwords I use on facebook, had two goes and it locked me out.

Thank you for your interest Clare.

Actually what i really want is to make other people on Facebook aware of the hassle if for some reason they get locked out. People need to study all the photos of all their friends. And I mean all the photos, that is those in their photo albums as well because I am sure they are putting those up as well. Meanwhile I shall continue playing this new game of one go an hour!!

Thanks Dizzi, had another go and still couldn't get the photos. It is so stupid. One of the photos was of a chap with an earring and all the possibles were females. I could rule out three of the five but had to make a wild guess. I actually don't recognise some of the names either so goodness knows how they are on my friends list.

SENT YOU PM

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 12 Oct 2010 18:12

No Dizzi, it comes up with verify your account then also says chose a method. But there is only one method, you have to identify five friends' photos. You get 3 passes and about 8 goes altogether. It shows a photo, which may be one out of that friend's photo album, not necessarily the photo by their name. You also get a list of about 5 possibles so sometimes you can eliminate those who you know it definitely isn't. If you get it wrong you sometimes get another go sometimes not, then if you get it wrong you can't have another try for an hour. I have been trying since yesterday morning. I just don't recognise what a lot of my friends look like because they have been added (people off here) and I haven't looked at their photos.

AnninGlos Report 12 Oct 2010 17:44

Just tried again. so stupid because there is no way of getting through to them that it will never work. If you are on there sometime can you warn people that this is what happens. It doesn't matter to me but some people would be devastated if they can't get on.

Well I am still not in and although I have contacted them and had an acknowledgement they still haven't come back to me with a solution. That was yesterday. I have just had another go and failed again. Some of the photos are awful too, out of focus, blurred. They take photos out of any photos you upload so i just managed to recognise my grandson in the background of one. Awful way to verify and very frustrating. It gives you a photo and a short list of about 5 possibles, fine if you can eliminate but the last lot were hopeless. Have to wait another hour now.
