I am so happy that you are going to your son's wedding to take your place by his side.

It will you a chance to recharge your batteries. Enjoy yourself and try not to worry too much about the situation at home.

Me too, Pam - that's wonderful news. Have a very happy few days in Cyprus with your family and relax and enjoy seeing your son marry his lovely fiancee. Don't worry - everything will be fine. Tell us all about it when you're back home and have a spare few minutes, won't you.

Love and very best wishes to you all,

Go to the wedding. There are others who can organize whatever is needed here and you have done all you can. You also need care and distraction. You matter too.
It will make nobody feel any better to think you might have missed something so very impotant to you on their behalf so get your butt over there and let the world over here run itself for a few days.

Pam, you do seem to be unlucky when planning visits, don't you, love?

I am so very glad you are almost on the way to Cyprus, have a wonderful time with your family. I hope the wedding goes beautifully, and your son and his new wife have a great life together.

When I read about the problem just now, I was wishing I could just get in the car and come and help, but now you have a care package sorted out and must go with a clear conscience and happy heart to enjoy this very special time.

You have to just think Que Sara and give your son the support and pleasure of sharing his special day.

Let us know how things went when you return, meantime take the chance of some rest and relaxation and come back refreshed with some lovely memories to tell the family who stayed behind.

I hope your Mum's arm heals well and your sister is improving so she can continue her fight.

Its just gone 6 in the morning and now I am getting really excited , cant sleep remembered at 5 this morning that I had forgotton to send an invoice so i' ve just done that, keep thinking have i remembered everything must remember to put my dress in the case ( its an evening gown so needs last moment packing) have i packed a hairbrush , have i packed enough knickers how much over weight are my suitcases!!!!!!!!!! and on and on all the things are flying around in my head , normally I would have written hundreds of lists packed and repacked the cases but this time its throw it all in( except my dress ) and well they got shops in cyprus .

Once again thanks to all of you, I felt all your cwtch's yesterday coming through to me and how all the things you said to me made me feel that yes I need to be with my son tomorrow on his wedding day , and even if my sister had lost her battle she would have hated it if I had not been with Matthew and Sherellle and all the rest , I have got so many people making sure my parents are ok makes me realise how wonderfull all my friends are

Will think of you and raise a glass to you all in Cyprus tomorrow

We had a wonderful time in Cyprus, the wedding was amazing and we enjoyed every moment of it but did things go wrong in Cardiff, the day after the wedding ( friday) had a message left on my phone that Social services couldnt find my mother, phoned my dad thinking maybe she had popped to see him he told me she had fallen again and hurt her arm and she was in hospital and my aunt knew the details , phoned her and she told me that she had fallen the day before and broken her hip , and they were waiting to operate, after I had hysterics and calmed down from packing my bags intending to swim back to Cardiff, I realised that I couldnt get a flight only a day or two before I was due back and everyone in Cardiff was looking after her and several call to UHW to make sure she was ok I sat back and as best I could enjoyed the rest of my holiday, I returned early Thurs morning and had a couple of hours sleep after a few hiccups she had had her op on Tuesday and seemed to have come through it really well all my friends had been to visit her and everyone told me she was really well so I was looking forward to seeing her , went in and asked what ward she was on and when I went in I couldnt se her and it was my OH who said there she is and it said no thats an old lady ( mums 84) he said but her name is over the bed she looked horrendous and I got upset thankfully she was sleeping I touched her hand and she opened her eyes and said I am in so much pain so I tolddher I would leave her sleep and come back later , to try and cut this a little shorter I spoke to a nurse who I think was extremlly rude and OH said he thought I was going to leap the desk to her , I walked away and went back later in the evening and had she changed she was smiling and chatting and I had taken some wedding pics in and it was great to see her and when I went in last night she was the same, she told me the doctor wants to see me and she is a little unhappy about the way the rude nurse speaks to her but then so are many of the other patients seems the girl has attitude problem, I have the greatest repect for the medical proffesion my daughter has just finished 22 years ending up as a sister and done her masters degree to become a health visitor so I know how often the are abused by patients and families .

She is talking of her plans for her future maybe going into a home or maybe sheltered accommodation so its watch this space. I am so glad I went to Cyprus and I know it was the right thing to do

Morning Pam,

I am so pleased you did go on the trip and you were able to enjoy the lovely wedding. Those will be memories for a lifetime.

How upsetting for you to get the call about your Mum, and how sad to be confronted by the nurse with an attitude problem. Perhaps you need to speak to someone senior on that.

I do hope that you can find the right place for Mum for her in the future and that she recovers well from the surgery.

My reply to a stroppy nurse would have been, Just a minute, madame, who do you think you are talking to? I'll have your name, please. You will be hearing from your superiors!
There is no excuse unless the visitor is abusive. Matron would have removed us from ward duty for less.

Pam, I am so glad you enjoyed the wedding and have such lovely memories of sharing the day with the newly weds.

It's a shame your Mum had a fall but hope she will recover well and will be able to find somewhere good to move into where she is probably safer and has someone on call to help her. It will ease your mind when it's all sorted out.

I would talk to the hospital management people or the PALS I think it is called, about the way the nurse talks to the patients and the visitors but maybe ask for your name to be kept from her so she doesn't know who reported her rudeness, then she can't take it out on your Mum.

Hope things go more smoothly from now on

Morning Pam,
I hope your mum makes good progress and can move somewhere that is suitable for her needs. Sheltered accomodation is very good.
As for the stroppy nurse, she should definitely be reported to senior hospital management. As an elderly patients concerned family you should have been spoken to with respect and compassion.
I am glad you enjoyed the wedding and I expect your son was delighted that you made it.
