I had some sweets for the little ones and the ones that came around were dressed up and polite. I don't answer the door to older teenagers who don't bother to dress up and are just after the treats. I also worry about the older ones taking the sweets off the little ones. Fortunately most of the younger ones are supervised by parents - but not all.

MayBlossomEmpressofSpring Report 31 Oct 2010 18:44

We had our one ane only caller about half an hour ago and he must surely be the youngest ever, just three weeks old, together with eleven year old brother and Mum. Baby was dressed in what I still call "siren suit" but one like a little lamb,in a car/carry-seat and in his pram, and brother in a sheet with all "blood " streaks on the sheet and himself.
Don't like to think I am old and grumpy, but I would cer.tainly not take such a young baby out on a damp cold night like we have tonight, on an unnecessary, I think, trapes around. Needless to say the older one got a monetry treat

We have had 5 calls, all with a parent in tow which is good. Had a couple of tricks as well with scarey spiders.

I said to one tiny little girl ( dressed as a witch) "what do witches say when they're given sweets?".......she said "erm thank you?" .... aww.... and I said "right answer" :O)

I love the scene in 'Meet Me in St Louis' when Margaret O'Brien is trick a treating and gets scared by the old man at the door.....

I've got sweeties to hand out this year and candles glowing in the window as a sign to the kiddies that this is a house they can happily knock at .

If no one knocks then I get to eat all the sweets ....lol

Tiddler desperate to go out but we wont let her as its begging wouldnt let her go up to strangers and other time of year and ask for sweets. I know Im a boring old f*rt.

Lisy has just dressed her up as a sort of witch looks more like a batty old lady to up lol. Told her she cananser the door to people and give out the sweets that might scare them off, and if certain people who we dont get on with come round tshe can hit em with my walking stick that she is flying around on at the minute.

As for me and hubby we are hibernating
