ALERT = just got a phone call - telling me my pooter is corrupt etc. Told bloke hes a scammer. He told me my address. He was persistant (indian)

I told him I was recording his call for the police, ...he said goodbye :o))

My pooter is clean, did a full system scan yesterday, working like a dream :o))

I have heard of this scam before, so was on my guard. Please be on yours

MH i had the same call a few months back, i'm not that good with the puta but, my son was in and he took the phone off me and knew straight away that it was a scam and told him very nicely where to go. lol

I had a similar call from an Indian woman this morning. She told me that she was from Global computer something or other. She said she was calling because there were lots of problems in my area. She said I needed to run some checks and asked me if I was sitting at my computer.
Needless to say, I just hung up, but I can imagine gullible people being taken in. I don't know what they were up to.

We have been getting these calls regularly for several months now. Husband lets them rattle on then 'politely' tells them to go and scam somebody else.

Thanks for posting those web addys Mildred - I've just spent 15 minutes on the *bitterwallet* one laughing my head off at some of the things people have said and done to the scammers! ROFL

What really gets my goat most is when they address me by my first name,---- not that asking is that Mrs ??doesn't !

I don't have the patience to let then whittle on, I either ask them where they got 'this number' from or say as a 'cold call' I am going to report them, line inevitably goes dead !...Surprise ..not!

I have these calls all the time - at least it seems they call all the time. Luckily I also have 'caller display', so if I see that the call is an international one (and I'm not expecting an international call), then I simply don't answer.

If I do answer then I simply tell them to hold the line while I put my computer on - and go away and do something more interesting instead.

I hardly ever get cold callers and when I do I just tell them ring me again and I will put you on my nuisence phone call list and hang up

just had a look at the links Mildred, some were funny and if i get another call off them i will def use some new tactics. lol

Just a thought, are you all in the phone book as I'm EX directory and as of yet have not had a call.

Don't you think it's sad that graduates(and graduates they are - which is why they can speak tolerable English) from the Indian sub-continent can only find these kinds of jobs? It's not their fault that they're a nuisance - it's the fault of those who employ them.

I'm not exdirectoty but am not listed in the phone book.

Whilst the calls are annoying, it gives some satisfaction to me when they hang up and I know they haven't scammed me.lol

Buy a cheap answering machine and don't pick up till you hear who is calling then they will just waste their money wittering on to a machine, and eventually the call clicks off.

I confuse people if I answer and they are cold callers etc as they automatically go Mrs S? and I say no, cos I ain't, even tho he is Mr S. lol

we are ex directory and on the telephone preference although this doesn't stop overseas callers. What i do have though is a ban on callers withholding their tel nos ,cost me £1.50 per month . dont know how much it stops cos they just dont get through.

They still used my name & address when they spoke to me.

I think they buy addresses etc from companies who sell their info on :o((.

My brother has just phoned me to say he has just had a weird call saying there is something wrong with his computer ! All the weirder because he doesn't even have one !!

My brother is listed in the telephone directory so I guess that is where they got his number fom .

I shall alert friends and family that they are " doing " this area .
