I had to spend far too many years in Croydon and I have to say that if planet Earth had haemorroids they would hang out in Croydon. The place is the ars**ole of the universe!
I'm back home again now in North Devon (which is utterly, completely different from south Devon) and it is, now the tourists have all gone home, Beeeautiful.
Mind you I can't wait to get off to New Zealand for the winter.

I lived perfectly happily on Gosport in the 60s. Wouldn't like to live in Portsmouth itself as it is too built up, but not boring, no way with the docks, museums, beach etc etc. Strangely when I visited Edinburgh I found it vaguely depressing. it is the old addage of beauty being in the eye of the beholder. Also used to like Southampton when I was younger but it has changed a lot now like most cities.

Suzanne, well you are in good company now I think, isn't Prince William living on Anglesey with his fiancee?

I hope your o.h. realises how much you are giving up for him and will take you out and about to more places or at least to Cardiff very often.
