Why is it virtually impossible to obtain this item? Had this problem about 3 years ago and now not as mobile am trying the web. What they refer to as long is midcalf. I want my legs and ankles to be warm.
I had a dicussion with M & S supervisor 3 yrs ago and she said because ladies would trip over longer lengths! Iam not 6' tall but 5'6" and shrinking" Any ideas?

I do trip over my dressing gown when I go up the stairs carrying my hot drink and books etc. I have three winter dressing gowns and they are all long - what is the point of having one if it doesn't keep your ankles warm and when you are sitting down your feet as well.

It seems to be about health and safety, to prevent falls,
Mens d/gs are longer.
same with nighties, where have all the long-sleeved T - shirt material ones gone.?

I have 3 - all M & S and the bathrobe is longest but too heavy for me and it is still around calves. Will take your advice on board and check. If I wear OH's it is loverly, soft and warm and have to hitch it up with the belt!!!!

I noticed a lovely soft fluffy one in Asda last week, in the men's dept but fairly long, altho not full length, only £12/50 and a sort of soft plum colour. I have a full length one I got from La Senza the first year o.h. and I were together, we went to the sales after Christmas and I spotted it and he said he would pay half as it was reduced to £30 which was a lot of money in 1996 It's getting a bit thin now, it's a fleece one, but still warm. To keep my feet and ankles warm I have a wonderful pair of those fleecey soft boots to wear indoors, there is no central heating here and lots of draughts from patio and front doors whipping through as it's sort of open plan. There are lots of soft bootees around that are great for wearing indoors and much warmer and safer than a long dressing gown.

Not the most flattering colour, but eminently practical.

Now I am on the hunt for ginger carpets and bedding.

And curtains and cushion covers and.................................

Hi Chris, hope you find the length you're after.

Interesting to learn what the M&S supervisor had to say to you - but she's talking rubbish!! LOL :) Because I've been looking for PJ's for ages now, with full length legs, and on every set they have I find the legs too long, just right for tripping over!! Yet I'm 5'3" so I'm not particularly short.
I can get the top to fit perfick, but the legs are always too long. Why do they do that?
None of the M&S staff can answer me on that. They then suggest I buy the cropped ones, or the PJ separates. OK, but they only sell the nice silky type PJ's in sets, not as separates. Now I wonder why do they do that? Cos again, none of the M&S staff can tell me!!
What a chore!!! LOL
Who said shopping was easy!

Wear PJ's and the furry boot type slippers.

If the legs are too long,Its amazing what a pair of Pinking Shears and a Needle and cotton can do.Or hemming tape.**M**.

Julia Report 15 Nov 2010 16:06

At 5'1", I find all PJ's far to long, and have to shorten them. Also they are so baggy, I could make another pair out of the surplus, well nearly. Similarly, dressing gowns to come abit longer.

I used to wear those desert boot slippers and lovely and warm they were too. Even bought teenaged gdau (she was then) a pair. Unfortunately I now need a slipper with a thick nonslip sole.

I want full length nighties with short sleeves in a non-iron fabric. I dont mind silky as I pile fleece blankets on the bed so am not cold. Have a full length dressing gown, from Cotton traders a few years ago. Would like to buy one of those microfibre sleeved blankets, but cant find out if you can walk in them, also not sure i'd take it off in the winter! Keep the heating bills down though.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 16 Nov 2010 04:45

Jean, the blankets are a bit long so you might trip unless you tied a sash round them and the only cover the front of you so when you get up your back would be chilly.

I wear pjs from Lidls, when they have them I stock up, as they have cuffs round the ankle so even if a bit long for my 5'6" height, the bunched up bit keeps me warm. I used to like flannalette pjs in the traditional men's style but find the legs ride up in bed so I get chilly, mind you I wear bedsocks too, I have always been a chilly mortal lol

One thing I did when my son was small instead of buying a dressing gown, was to knit him one, I made a cardigan/jacket pattern much longer and it was nice and snug and fitted him for a long time.

I made a dressing gown for my young son out of a lovely velvet dress that had got too small for me. That was 45 yrs ago. There is still a large square of that material here that is used for polishing up the furniture. Good material in those days.

Evans do lovely soft fleecy dressing gowns I bought myself a beautiful cerise pink one last year and is very cuddly to wear.
Don't have a fit at the mention of Evans cos they do start from size 12 & upwards.
I did buy one of those Slankets for grandaughter last Xmas cos she gets cold even in the central heating .she loves it and can snuggle down to watch TV but then walk around in safety when she needs to, We always said she had round feet cos she would trip over nothing!! her slanket gives her the freedom to be warm and safe

I wear mens pyjamas in the winter they are lovely and fleecy and one pair are black with Jim Beam and the red seal written all over them. With that and my black furry boots - I look very fetching going out to get the paper from the mail box of a morning.

Liz - a knitted dressing gown for a little child is a boon, one of mine had one and it seemed to stretch as she grew... it lasted ages as well.
