Very sad but probably a sign of the times that they cant get staff to work on a Sunday.i am sure the flowers will stil be OK tomorrow if you can get there |

Thanks Teresa, i supose i will take them tomorrow, but, like u say its not the same. The page in the book is turned every day and i'm now wondering what day its on today. Bet its not showing the 14/11/1944. |

Took a lovely basket of flowers to the seaman's mission today for my uncle who was killed in action on the 14/11/1944 aged 20. This has been done since he died, my nana used to do it and then my mother after nana died. When my mam died i kept the tradition on, but sadly it wasnt open today. Just a notice saying its only open week days, this has really upset me as i like to look at the book with his name in it and all the other men who gave their lives for our freedom. Now i dont know what to do with the flowers apart from just leaving them in my sitting room. Just doesnt seem the same. |
