I've just posted on a thread on General and got this down the side when I posted or Previewed - has it been there since the changes, or more recently?

Marion, perhaps you were one of the nameless people who posted? There have been comments on the fact that some postings did not have a name such as your wisechild. Others had some of their fancy bits changed to all sorts of gobbledegook.

Berona, it doesnt matter how much we complain, 'they' never change things back. It has happened in the past when things have changed.

At least there is one change which seems to be good. With Hot matches, if I delete one I am not taken back to the first page as I used to be, but back to the page I was on.

On Thursday I added to two posts on the subject of the changes, but neither of them are showing on the boards, nor are they coming up under my thread participation, although a third one offering advice to a member is there.
Was it something I said do you think?
The new method of timing the contributions is useless. After all, yesterday in Europe is not the same as yesterday in Australia. I always managed to work out the time difference before because I know I am an hour ahead of the UK. I´m sure other members are equally as capable. The new method is meaningless.

I have worked in a computer invironment and it is usual for any business to wait for weekends, holidays (pref. Easter and Christmas) in order to 'try out' new programs and also when installing them.

This site never shuts down, so all technical work has to be done at the same time keeping the site going so that we customers can have our chat. It is extremely difficult to do, and has it problems, as we have seen.

Let's give them a chance to try out, then instal what they want and see how it goes. When they are finished, if we don't like it, we can then suggest they change it back again.

Hi Huia, well sorry love, but I am not going to die for yonks yet so if they waited for me it would be a long wait lol
Seriously, I find the glare of the page not good on my eyes, and just don't like the time it takes to get back to the list of threads etc - if new people came on to the old boards they got used to them as we had so I can't see any sense for change for change' sake. Fine for people who have lots of time to spend on here but I don't and hate the way things are now.

It has occurred to me that the change from giving the actual time (in England) to giving how long ago a thing was posted, is because some of us are not in England. But I am quite used to mentally changing my time to yours, good exercise for the brain, particularly when changes to daylight saving in both countries can mean a difference of 11, 12 or 13 hours. But perhaps other people are not capable of doing mental gymnastics.

Yes, I will get used to the changes, but I still think they are totally unneccessary, apart from removing deleted threads. But as somebody pointed out it now looks as if we are arguing with ourselves. I hope you understand what I mean, I am not sure I am as I am getting a bit confused! That is the trouble with having a high IQ, I cant think like people with low IQs!! (How do I do 'tongue in cheek'?)

Also the advance search doesn't work. I tried searching for myself & it demands a keyword. So put in a word from my last post & it comes up with zilch........ Why on earth dont they test these changes before rolling them out?

Penfold

Penfold Report 19 Nov 2010 17:55

Looks like they're trying to copy face book with showing how long ago a post was posted............Why not just keep with the time of a post as before? Also the time of the last post on a thread doesnt match with that shown on the Chat board. :o((

Also another annoying feature I've noticed over the weeks. Is that when someone posts, the boards & threads dont update properly. ie If I post on thread y, when I return to the Chat board it doesn't always show a post has been placed. And on returning to the last page of the thread often the last 4 or 5 posts aren't showing........It can be confusing when answering to someone :o((

i think change is good stregthes the mind n keeps us on our toes,

plus new people joining will just think thats how its always been,as for the old members, everytime it changes we have the usual, why, if its not brke, but you all soon get use to it

if everything always stayed the same it wld be a pretty boring world dont ya think?

im sure in time the ones who find it difficult will get used to the new set out, altho mines gone beck to the old lay out lol,
