mcb, hi i dont like it either. i would like the time and date back besides the thread. saying 4 hours ago is so unhelpful isnt it?unless you are looking at a clock you dont have a clue when the last posting was.

i am all for improvements if they improve, but as of yet cant see any benefits at all, or is it just me being a grumpy old woman who doesnt like change?

No one likes change and it does tend to make us all grumpy but it seems to me that they have not just installed one change but several.
1) a help clinic with a full waiting room
2) pages that turn around and go the other way and you have to reverse them to read them correctly.
3) names have been messed about with.
4) clock can't tell the time
5) some people have gold stars
6) and the big one we now have "My Thread Participation" instead of my threads.
7) and just recently a thread that had a perfectly good introduction for over a year now has had it's introduction changed to what a member posted a hour or so ago.

Dang me dang me they ought ta take a rope and hang me.

I agree with everyone.
Strangely, being above the age of 6, if the time of the last response was, say, 20.00 hours and it's now 22.00, I can work out that it was 2 hours ago!!
Even if it was 8pm and 10pm, I can still work it out!! I don't need to have it 'mouthed' at me!!

That's fine Maggie but we lot on the other side of the world have to know whether it is daylight saving or not and are the Brits behind us x amount of hours or not.

At present it is okay as we have all done our changing but later we will change at one time and you at another - so having the British time up helps immensely. A new person to the boards from down under could get confused. I know how to use my computer clock but it is a lot easier if the time is on the boards or am I being selfish?

And I am only talking about NZ and Australia, the Canadians will have another time etc etc.

I always assumed that with the different sites, uk., sa, nz etc. That the time shown on those sites, would have been for those locations. It cant be that hard to do surely?

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 20 Nov 2010 01:17

well persey, maybe its time that each world time zone was specific to the site concerned??

we in the uk have ours and australia, new zealand and south africa have theirs?
after all we still get the same pages no matter which site we log into?

ooooops penfold great minds, and all that?

No it is not hard for me to tell the time here (on my computer in front of me) or over there for that matter. Just easier (being lazy) when the British time comes up we know they are either 11, 12 or whatever hours behind us etc. Now I guess we won't know as we are all working on hours and minutes. I do know of people older than me that are having difficulty with it, that is why I mentioned it.

NZ, SA and AU sites all operated with the British time before because as you say we all linked up to the same page.

I hope you get your boardname back Bob too. I saw it had gone fluffy and then later it was correct again on one of the threads.

I think I will make a coffee, that's not hard to do either. 2.50pm here.

For heaven's sake, this is awful, the white glare of the page isn't easy on the eyes, and the changes are stupid, did people complain about any thing that they needed to start messing around with the site.

I am really fed up and not sure I can enjoy using the threads - have been coming on here less and less and this is so offputting I may appear even less now.

You go off the screen for a few days and what happens. Perfectly able to tell the time, and I find that aspect particularly insulting to my intelligence. Without reading all the threads, I can see that most posters are like minded. Why the h**l do they have to change what was perfectly alright. To keep someone in a job, no doubt.
