Have you contacted them yet? It seems like your doctor might be a first port of call. |

Some years ago elderly neighbour had a leg amputated due to diabetes and received some sort of allowance (expect it was carers). However, after she had her second leg amputated a Benefits doctor visited her home to assess her - her benefits were reduced as she needed less help with no legs!!!!!!! I told them to appeal. They did but they were in their late seventies, had no famil and did not need that hassle. Hope you get sorted out. Common sense seems to be lacking in those depts. |

GeordieCath....l am sorry about this. The Conservatives really are going to town on the people who really need help are'nt they. l have 2 sisters that receive help for motorbility/disability, they too will be assessed. l'm just hoping they don't lose any benefits. |

I put this on another thread. Before I became a carer I worked freelance. My partner did and does again now. If we had to go for a job we just went and bore the travel cost.As a carer there are no concessions like glasses or prescriptions but we bore that too. |

My disability was granted for life and my OH is a war pensioner. Can they hope to change those? Apart from other problems, such as poor circulatio resulting in ulcers on leg, I have now been diagnosed with Asthma. I also have continence problems because of side effects of diabetes. How can I cope with a bus service running twice a week , giving three hours in town? Twenty miles from the hospital and two from the doctor. |

You make sure you get every service that is available to you. It has been difficult but I am finally learning to grab instead of getting by. |

Helen in Kent........a lot of people claiming DLA have paid their dues for years even if they haven't they are entitled to DLA if they need it , yes some are not genuine but what people are saying is they are genuine but are getting their benefits stop which l personally think is unfair surely you also must think they are being penalized, what can they do to get what they are entitled to !!!!!! |

A chap who used to live near me was a wrong 'un through and through. One Boxing Day he stole a motorbike and roared off on it, knocking down and killing an elderly lady. He smashed his leg up. He was put in prison for it for a few years (not many) and his licence taken away. When he came out of prison he started driving again even without a licence but no one dare report him because he was such a headcase he would have beaten that person up if he found out. |

IGP I agree with you but something must be done to make sure the right people are targetted and that the benefits are not stopped for those in real need and genuine and geordie Cath's OH obviously is. One wonders who is actually doing these assessments and what is their criteria. |
