MN Gal......l did the same when we visited the Imperial War Museum, infact we pre arranged to meet the curator and he took us down into the cellars where we saw some amazing paintings of me gf. When we came up and looked around the main gallery there was ane exhibit of my uncle Phillips along Searles....of Japenese Prison of War sketches...l listened to a tape by Phillip and told everyone that was mt Uncles voice , oh l was as proud as mintballs:o))
Sadly Phillip died a couple of years ago of war wound (shrapnel) problems, ulcers, other probs and malnutrition due to not being fed properly by his private carers that came in to him!!!!!! they used to leave his food where he could'nt reach it.....after all he went through in the war and after and he died like that...horrific!! l think his family were investigating but did'nt hear the results.

You tell em again girl:o))

Hello Dizzi...l'm not too keen on abstract, especially some of the stuff that gets into the Tate called modern art, like a piece of wood or all those sunflower seeds (is it the Tate??). l love pencil/charcoal sketches, especially with a hint of colour. Also portraits, animals and some landscapes.
l love some of my grandfather's Bernard Meninsky's work but dislike alot too. His younger son Phillip was amazing with pastels and ballerina's and portraites. Look them both up on google:o))

MotownNoelGal.....so you should be proud, love the horse one:o)

Lindsey.... yours are great too:o))

Dizzi, can you email me someof yours so l canput them on my blog??

Im so excited,
my youngest son has recently had his screen printed art work, which he did for his final art exam, chosen for display in our city art gallery.
we went in for the opening of the display, where 8 young people from the local colleges, had their work on display. The photographer from the paper was there to take shots of each with their work.

Nice one 5EXY : )
I was at Tate St Ives recently, i've never seen such c**p masquerading as art. Piles of cups and saucers! If that is art there is a masterpiece on my draining board every evening. Absolute rubbish!
I like the pre-raphaelites, particularly some of the stunning portraits and the impressionists, especially Walter Sickert.

Good morning Dizzi - I often just paint over an already painted canvas. I found a large one (4ft x 4ft) at our tip yesterday - they have a charity shop there, where I usually go for pic frames. Good quality for a tenner - I'm well pleased. Saves me making one up.

My son and his girlfriend gave me a card a while ago - it's got an elephant on it with lots of decorative bits. They want me to do a painting based on it to put on a wall in their lounge. I shall use the canvas I bought yesterday. Can't do it before Xmas, but will do it in the new year for an engagement pressie, as they've just got engaged.

Mtg - what a wonderful find. I bet you feel proud.
