Wend Report 10 Dec 2010 20:21

I'm still here, Prickles - thankyou for your concern. Didn't choke on the stitch, but it's gone. Must've either flown out during the night when I was sucking in the curtains or it's just passing through, heading for a long, exciting trip through the Victorian sewers of Brighton to the sea. Anyway, the wound feels fine, better now the stiches aren't there and my inquisitive tongue's calmed down.

Glad you're feeling better - oh, what I could do with a jam doughnut right now lol!! :-)) x

PS Sorry about my 'little rant' last night - looked stupid in the light of day.

Thanks for the sticker, Prickly - cheered me up no end. Feeling peed off, one of my stitches has come out and I think the other one is on its way. Was told not to drink alcohol for 24 hours - well, you can guess - I washed down the paracetamol with a large glass of medicinal wine and now I feel worse. Can't eat, fed up, cards need to be written, but I don't feel in the mood, house is a tip, blah, blah, people worse off than me, my 96 yr old mother-in-law never complains about anything, why do I? And don't mention teeth - if only!!! Mine are grinning at me on the table - ha, ha, very funny! Group hug please?

I haven't read that in years. Just as amusing now as it was then and very true. I hate going to the dentist.

Next time you go to the dentist Dizzi, lay back and think of this........

OH, I WISH I'D LOOKED AFTER MY TEETH
by
Pam Ayres

Oh, I wish I'd looked after me teeth,
And spotted the perils beneath,
All the toffees I chewed,
And the sweet sticky food,
Oh, I wish I'd looked after me teeth.

I wish I'd been that much more willin'
When I had more tooth there than fillin'
To pass up gobstoppers,
From respect to me choppers
And to buy something else with me shillin'.

When I think of the lollies I licked,
And the liquorice allsorts I picked,
Sherbet dabs, big and little,
All that hard peanut brittle,
My conscience gets horribly pricked.

My Mother, she told me no end,
"If you got a tooth, you got a friend"
I was young then, and careless,
My toothbrush was hairless,
I never had much time to spend.

Oh I showed them the toothpaste all right,
I flashed it about late at night,
But up-and-down brushin'
And pokin' and fussin'
Didn't seem worth the time... I could bite!

If I'd known I was paving the way,
To cavities, caps and decay,
The murder of fiIlin's
Injections and drillin's
I'd have thrown all me sherbet away.

So I lay in the old dentist's chair,
And I gaze up his nose in despair,
And his drill it do whine,
In these molars of mine,
"Two amalgum," he'll say, "for in there."

How I laughed at my Mother's false teeth,
As they foamed in the waters beneath,
But now comes the reckonin'
It's me they are beckonin'
Oh, I wish I'd looked after me teeth.

Wend Report 9 Dec 2010 16:12

Well done, brave little soldier! I've just come back from hospital having had a small benign lump removed from inside my cheek. I had 3 injections and 2 stitches. I've been nervous about having it done since last night, but it wasn't too bad. Now I'm just waiting for the anaethestic to wear off and the pain to set in.

I think I was a brave little soldier too, but I didn't get a sticker, boo hoo :-(
