We live in Kent and locally the New Year is a damp squib. Was saying to other half earlier that in South East London neighbours stayed up to see in the New Year and would come outside to wish everyone a happy New Year and do a conga up and down the road as the boats on the River Thames did their Fog Horns and even just after the War the all clear would be played!! |

New Year's Eve is an evocative time for many, Gwen and the way it has become so commercialised with the charges is going to change it even more in the future as fewer people can afford to go out and celebrate. It was so quiet here, we heard a few fireworks around 10pm and then again at midnight, but it was only half a dozen and no idea where from. No neighbours came out or made any sound, altho there were lights on in most of them. |
