I used ti give the kids @school fruit salad and blackjacks on a Friday they were 4 for a penny. I miss fondant creams. The nearest I can get are Clarnico fondant mints. Elaine. |

I go to a shop in town that sells lots of the old types of sweets. coltsfoot rock, sweet cigarettes, pear drops, parma violets. cherry lips, coconut mushrooms, cough candy, scottish fudge. and those liquorice sticks that looked like small twigs, to name but a few |

Sherbet lemons made the roof of my mouth sore if I ate too many, which I usual did! Loved sherbet dips too. Also sweet peanuts and little gems. Anyone remember jamboree bags (a mixture of sweets and one small toy)? Chewing gum machines where you put one old penny in and got a packet of 4 pieces of gum (used those when I was desperate for a sweet and the shop was closed!) |

thanks Julia, for reminding me about Barley Sugars. I had totally forgotten they even existed, but I remember now that I was regularly given them to cure my travel-sickness. Whilst sitting on a piece of newspaper in the back seat of the parental car. |
