I've never put up a " shall I stay or should I go " thread I think I will this time ( as my subs are due today ) . I've been here for many a long year , in fact I feel like part of the furnishings of the site ....... Do you know , I've not ever had a " nasty " message or indeed any strife on here at all but then again I've rarely ventured an opinion .
I've avoided " vexatious " folk and found ones that I like , that is the beauty of GR " chat " , if you sit back and just look , you'll find your niche : ))

Am I staying ? Yes of course I am .

Oh, phew, I saw this and hoped it wasn't something I said ... or didn't say -- I just realized you'd sneaked well wishes for my finger into my Pyrex thread and I hadn't noticed until I went back to page 1 of the thread just now and you must have thought I'd turned up my nose and set my face or some such.

It's doing well, ta, and I can't believe you don't have a microwave. May we point and laugh?

I am so glad you are staying Amanda :))) You're nice, and sensible and funny (in a good way!) and 'calming' to those of us who do get a bit "vexatious", and vexed, from time to time :)

Hi Amanda

I'm so pleased you're staying. You're one of those rare things, in my opinion. A genuinely nice person, who feels no need to be judgemental and with a brilliant sense of humour. You were a great friend to me when I really needed one, in the days when I couldn't face "real" people. I'll not forget you for that.

Nor will I forget the times we had in the Mad Bar....

Remember the deaf mute barmaid (whose name escapes me), Mine Host of the dodgy dealings and Whirley on her scooter?

Take care, my friend xx

Sue ... lol

Ice .... I sometimes feel like I've been here since the beginning but I didn't post on chat for a long long time ... . I get a year for seven pounds something so it isn't worth throwing the towel in and anyway I love GR , I've looked and joined in a bit over the years, I know it's a bit " sad " but this is my www " home " .

Lindi .... someone gave me a microwave once , it came in one door and straight out the other into the hands of someone that wanted one . I haven't ( and never have had ) a tumble dyer nor a mobile phone either . Why make life more complicated than it is ? lol

Suzian .... thank you : )) ( the name of the deaf barmaid was in fact Doris )
I feel all humble ( but not in a Uriah Heap way ...lol ).
Thank you BC ...... I just wish I could summons up the courage to be a bit more entertaining ***** frowns and contemplates navel .......

Well I'm with you on dryers, for sure -- since when did things stop drying themselves when left to their own devices, and need petroleum products to be burned to do it for them??

And cell phones, well, the devil makes work for idle hands, I've always heard. ;)

But microwave ovens -- they save time *and* energy (of the non-renewable type)! In my case: cook a bunch of stuff all at once in an oven, thus saving energy and time, freeze it, heat it in the microwave when ready to eat it. Remember to thaw it first, and you'll do both your body parts and your Pyrex, and of course the planet, a favour.

And they make such charming BEEPing noises, to get your attention and keep you company if you're lonesome. Efficient and companionable, that's microwaves.

Amanda2003, I too am glad you are staying. Besides, us non-microwavers must stick together. We are in a minority, it seems. It is to the amusement of some on here that I also do not have one, but they do mean it kindly.
I do have a mobile phone, but only use it when I go into hospital, and then only if I am in a ward on the front of the building and can get a signal.Otherwise, I do not need the use of one in my daily life.
As you quite rightly say, why complicate life.LOL
Take Care and speak again soon
