Not being one myself can someone explain to me why
they play in the winter and not summer. When OH watches
on TV and I see spectators and players alike cold, wet and
miserable I don't get the attraction. lolx

Well Golden Girl, just think what big mummies girls the players would be in the summer. They would be worse than now, wearing scarves and gloves etc. Nowt but alot of overpaid oversensitive Prima Donnas as it is.

This is question I have asked myself a lot this winter Emma.

My Son joined an under 13s team last year and every Sunday we troop off to watch them loose. The games are always at luchtimes and I have had to invest in a pair of thermal socks and gloves.

It is not a glamerous look!

I was going to say it is a man thing but that is not correct as I see a lot female fans at this games and some must be drawing their pension or pretty close to it. Personally I think they are all tuppence short of a shilling!!

Conan

Conan Report 18 Jan 2011 14:41

It's because no one wants to eat hot pies during the summer.

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 18 Jan 2011 14:43

I agree with you Teresa my grandson plays and looks frozen
and miserable, but when asked to play a game of golf he says
its too cold.
Julia I prefer rugby myself but wouldn't sit in the cold to watch it.
As for footie players I can't stand this falling about lark, great actors.

Island

Island Report 18 Jan 2011 14:46

umm......because the fans would look daft wearing scarves and woolly bobble hats in the summer?

Robin could be onto something

Cooper

Cooper Report 18 Jan 2011 14:47

They teach them from a young age Emma, I have seen 12 and 13 year olds doing wonderful dives!

Our team wear a garment called a "skin" Its a very tight fitting top, not sure of the material, its a bit like lyrcra.
They pop it under the shirts and keep really warm in them.

FA cup final in May.....training in the Summer too.

Then in hot countries Emma they do play in the 'Summer' lol..... ah! the meaning of life aka fitbaall

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 18 Jan 2011 14:48

Ah could that be the answer Robin, hot pies never thought
of that or could be the players need a lot of holidays in the
summer.
Chris my sil and daughter have run football teams for years,
she used to play and so did her daughter.
