Gwyn well done to your GP for realising something was serious enough for him to follow it through and getting your grandson treated.

I had my last MRI scan done on a Sunday, that was at Frimley Park Hosp, but this one was a mobile unit, so no luxury there lol

All scanners in our catchment area are used 8am - 8pm 7 days a week apparently

Just got to wait 14 days now for the result, and if it's a trapped nerve at the top of my spine, which doc thinks it is, when I go for my lumber epidural soon they will do another in the top of spine........that should be fun............being numb from the neck to the knees for 48 hours lol

Great to see you have such an early appointment.

We all know there are flaws in the system, but there can be great results too.
A few years ago I took grandson for a check-up prior to a new term because he complained of a pain near his groin.
We are ever thankful that the GP took it seriously, sent him for an X-ray that morning then phoned the hospital himself to ask for the results before phoning us at home to ask us to take J. to hospital. He was on bed-rest from that night (Monday ) until they could book the theatre for a long enough time for operations on both his legs on that Thursday.

When Sir Gerry Robinson took a look at the NHS one of the things he came up with was the lack of use of theatres/equipment and suggested finding a way to utilise this expensive outgoing of the NHS more cost effectively. Whilst I never endorse working on a Sunday, as such, this may well be one of the results of his findings. Having a very expensive piece of equipment working only Monday to Friday is not the way forward. Getting an appointment sooner, rather than later, may be the result of his findings. If so, well done.
For people not knowing Sir Gerry Robinson, he is the man presenting the program about writing your will, "You can't take it with you".
Kim-I hope the result will sort out your problem.-jl

Sunday?

Could it be that they have an arrangement with a private health care provider? I know that the hospital in Margate, Kent has that - the Scanner is on the same site of the newish NHS hospital. Plush waiting room and tea/coffee in delicate cups offered while you wait - lol

But regardless who owns it, its good to know that you have such a quick appointment, with hopefully a fast diagnosis and treatment.

Probably someone just cancelled & the appointment was there to be filled last minute.

If you went to the docs a few hours later, its likely that app would have gone & you may have had to wait weeks.

Still, its good you have this quick app, nothing worse waiting weeks for medical answers - even if they are not going to be anything serious.

Good luck on Sunday x

Went to docs last Wednesday with half a numb left hand (he's ruled out anything sinister as I have feeling in thumb and fore finger) but said I need an MRI scan...............my appointment is for this Sunday

Wow thought I'd have to wait weeks
