It's awful to see such violent weather action and such, all those people going about their daily lives and now their lives, if they survived, will never be the same again.

My o.h.'s stepmum's brother lives and teaches somewhere in Japan, am hoping he and his family are ok, he has a Japanese wife and their teenage son.

I don't know what is happening to the world - so many tragedies, people starving and struggling to survive in some countries and others fighting earthquakes, Tsunamis, floods, fires and all sorts of disasters. My heart goes out to them all.

And now there has been an explosion at one of the nuclear power reactors :(

Libby Report 12 Mar 2011 10:41

I too have been horrified by the devastation, as seen on TV. My thoughts are with everyone caught up in it.

One thing that puzzles me though is why have they built nuclear power stations in an area that is prone to earthquakes?

I am with you on that Libby, mother nature is one thing but mans' intervention is another.

I see we have sent over a contingent to Japan now Huia and Susan, it is not going to be easy for them. I know they are trained but even so it is a lot worse than what has happened here.

We were down in Wellington the other night when there was a quake not far from us - we didn't even notice but my daughter did 25kms away - she said they could here it coming and it was quite a jolt but they are used to them. I think because of the valley we were in we were probably sheltered from it.
