Just watched it again on ITV. Great film.

Good but not great

Really no idea why it was rated so highly

I could only bring myself to watch half of it the first time round!! My friend gave me the DVD saying..........oh, you must watch this! I dont think so!! lol

Good songs,great music and most of all FUN!

Have seen it on the West End, film and Newcastle arena and one fact stands out......people were smiling and imo it has the feel good factor. :O)

Saw it first at the cinema and everyone was soo happy. It is not a serious film it is a fun film. I think it was better at the cinema. Srange but although I like musicals Chicago left me cold.

Saw the musical first in London,loved it,but there again I've always loved Abba music.

As you say mtg different strokes but ticket sales etc.etc. give true picture. :O)

I had the dvd for Christmas a couple of years ago but o.h. never watched it with me, he was away when I watched it.
Made him sit through it last evening and he enjoyed it altho he was upset that it never said who was actually the father, he likes things cut and dried lol
I think the film is easy watching and gets you smiling, some films are so heavy or depressing but Mamma Mia is a good one when you want cheering up. The programme is on today about the making of the musical and the film, interesting stuff and more music from Abba, I already recorded it first time round so watched it again after the film and it made more sense that way.

Most people I know like the film but it didn't do much for me - except for Meryl Streep's performance cos I thought she was wonderful and always do. Love Chicago though :)))

I watched the film yesterday with my daughter.
I kept thinking 'This is the one that everyone said was great .... and I waited.

It was a fun film and I'm glad Ive at last caught up with it, but I think it might have had better impact at a cinema.

I hadn't seen it before and caught the last hour. I had listened to Meryl Streep singing 'Winner takes it all' on youtube and thought it was a stunning version, so I enjoyed listening to her sing. She is always so watchable for the emotions that cross her face.

Probably not one I would go to see on stage though.

One thing it did do , looking at the sky stars and sea as the daughter sailed off into the distance , following me watching Poirot earlier with very scenic location, was give me a real dose of 'wanderlust' !

Sorry, did not watch this in full. Not really my cup of tea, to be honest. I have to have my Saturday night fix of the darlink Mr Hugh F-W, and most certainly my dosage of Casualty. Poor Jay is suffering now he has had one of his t****** removed. Poor lad. But whilst switching channels I did catch a few minutes of Merly Streep. I really do like her, but in the usual kind of things she is in. No, I could not have sat through it all.

I just thought it was good for light entertainment for a Saturday evening (family entertainment). Yes it did have more impact on the big screen because of the brightness of the colours. But it was never meant to be a competitor for 'serious' films.

That reminds me.........now where did i put my dungarees? The last time i wore them was about 10 years ago so i know they are around here somewhere! :>))

Love or Hate the film I think you just can't help bopping along with the music.I did just that last night.Thank god no-one was watching me lol.I thought Meryl Streep was brilliant as always.

Its good reading these messages as I thought I was the only person not to have enjoyed this load of rubbish the first time round. I walked out of the cinema when they had an interval.

I love musicals, but felt that the actors must have been desperate for work. I dislike Meryl Streep as she always seems to be the same person in every film that she does. Watching Julie Walters and Colin Firth, both actors who I really admire, left me cold and almost embarrassed. Instead I watched a repeat program on the real Abba and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Its a good job we don't all like/dislike the same things.-jl

We watched Mama Mia last night. We'd heard so much about it, and sat and sat, and sat, just waiting for it to improve. Thought it was rubbish, several of the cast miscast, as others have said, and there seemed no point at all to the story.

We both love Abba by the way. We won't be switching on for Atonement either.

LOL Maddie Razzle indeed. It was very tame.I remember the days of a good old razzle !!!.The thought just makes me feel exhausted now lol.Oh they were the good old days.Nothing better than a good old razzle you know lolol

Just what I ws going to say Janet, as you can see I enjoyed the 'load of rubbish'.

Well as a great lover of musicals,and over the years I've seen most of them, I enjoyed Abba's 'load of rubbish' too Ann :O) ..... sheer fun and not to be taken seriously.

Sorry folks but you're in the minority.....as Abba's Mamma Mia is the fastest and biggest selling DVD ever in the UK.....figures don't lie lol

I always find it strange that if somebody doesn't like something that thousands of people do like, why not just say it was not to their taste, why dismiss it as a load of rubbish. I would not insult other people's choice like that myself.

I actually thought Julie Walters was brave to take on that part and was very funny in it. And I also thought Meryl Streep was good too and she sang well.

As I said, light entertainment not meant to be taken seriously.
