Nice to see another person on here. We were getting rather thinned out. Brenda, from experience, nursing at home is much more exhausting than in a care environment. You are on duty 24 hrs out of 24, but nurses get off duty. Done both so am in a position to judge! Do try to get OH to go in for respite care. Explain that its not permanent but you will be in much better condition to look after him if you are rested, and believe that yourself. <3

~~~~~~~~~~ Prickly Holly I haven't got an argument in me at the moment, I was put on the spot at Christmas and after a drink or two I retalliated and my s.i.l has banned me from their house, the people who started the argument have since realised that I was in the right and eaten humble pie but no apologies have been forthcoming, I only argue if I know for definite that I am in the right, otherwise I hold my hands up, so I don't often enter a dispute, everyone has their own opinion so I let them get on with it and if they make a fool of themself, so be it. ;-) ;-)
MayBlossomEmpressofSpring Report 15 May 2011 19:13
Hi Brenda, we too remember the North Wales meet and I often think about everyone who was there. It was a lovely weekend. OH has been fine until this past winter when I noticed that doing more around the house due to my being unable to do anything vigorous because of the ten slipped discs I gave myself when landing on my rear-end trying to close the swollen front door in a most unladylike manner, silly ha'porth, think I'd know better at my age, was taking it's toll, hence my decision to move house. OH said he wasn't moving so I told him I would divorce him (after 56 years, I ask you) and would go on my own. I really think moving has been a bit too much for him and have insisted on rest and more rest, the place is clean and tidy we are both here and still together, not divorced, so what else matters.
In answer to your question I have been able to bring the Victorian dolls house with me, the second one , which I intended to do in "modern" style I gave to the Railway Modellers Club to raffe or sell to raise funds.and all the furnishing and dolls to Olivia my grand daughter aged 13 who. like me loves dolls, I also gave her six of my porcelain dolls, nowhere to display all of them, and I know she appreciates them and will take care of them.
I hope your dear OH soon feels better, take care of yourself. XX
May,
Glad you are settled in your new home.Sorry about OH,I remember you both well after the North Wales meet a few years ago.
Do you have room for your doll's houses?
Liz,Thanks for the thoughts,I am tied a lot to the house,but we have to accept these things and I will look after him as long as I am able even though we have been offered respite in the local hospice for him,but I don't think I'd be able to relax as I know how he likes being in his own home living as normal a life as possible...and eating the foods I know he likes!
Just had my blood pressure medication increased as It is taking it's toll.
Had 3 grown up grandsons and one of their girlfriends here for the week-end so am a bit tired but lovely to see them...and they always do little jobs for me,but I think they see me as I have always been and cooked dinners last night and today as usual.
Brenda x x
Hi May, I remember your name ...
So sorry your o.h. had such a bad fall but it is an ill wind as they say, at least it got you your nice new home where you sound very content altho it must have been a wrench to leave your old house. I hope your o.h. will feel lots better soon.
I slipped backwards on black ice just before Christmas 2009 and it took me ges to feel better, my doctor said I had post concussive syndrome and should not expect to feel well for months, and he was right so it's no surprise that your poor hubby is still not 100%
Let's hope the sun shines for you both and you can enjoy sitting out and watching others do the mowing lol
Lizx
~~~~~~~~~ to Brenda, sorry your o.h. isn't doing very well, bless him, and it must mean you feel very housebound now. Take care of yourself too.

Hi again everyone and thanks for welcoming me back, sorry for the delay in getting back to you my lovely but long winded friend 'phoned.
We have had lots of changes since I last posted, firstly we have removed and after being in the cottage in the woods for twenty-one years it has been a real upheaval but a necessary one due to our failing health. I applied for a sheltered accommodation bungalow in the next village after OH having a bad fall on the ice in the unadopted lane we lived along, expecting to have to wait years but no, I believe God was looking after us, we had a key less that 14 days later and love it, all newly decorated and new fitted kitchen/diner, two small lawns to the front cut fortnightly by gardeners employed by the Housing Association and a paved sitting out area at the back the full width of the bungalow, all we need now is for OH to feel better and some decent weather. ;-) ;-)

Welcome back May.Hope you and OH are well.
I don't come on here a lot as OH has worsened a lot since Christmas and I seem to have a lot to do.Think I could get an NVQ in nursing!!
It's nice to join in occasionally.
Look forward to reading your posts.

Hello again Fiona and Shirley. I can take a joke without getting umpty, so no worries about "getting the hang of things". Lots of the "old" crowd seem to have disappeared, there was a lot of arguing on boards when I was last on, hope it's all changed for the better along with the format. :-)
