What about a N*ntendo DS , not as bulky as a computer, teach yourself a new language, they have a French or a Spanish Coach. They have games, like that Brain thing or games just for recreation. There is a stylus which is used so not difficult if the fingers aren't too flexible. Never short of what to buy for a present as different programs can be bought. ( There may be other small hand held thingies available as I don't want to advertise.)-jl |

I think the main thing is to build on any interests he has Jean, if any. Small but not fiddly model making might be the answer. |

Nothing wrong in a catnap for an hour or so after lunch and then he should sleep at night. |

Thanks for suggestions, will try and interest him in a few of them. He is nearly 76, has worked hard all his life and cant understand why he now feels tired in the afternoons. He also has to give his back a rest at some point in theday. I was looking for something to hlod his interest when he is sitting as he doesnt want to go to sleep , doesnt then sleep well at night. |

Get an allotment my OH has had a new lease of life since getting one. There is a whole community behind those gates and he spends hours in the evening chatting down there. |

How about embroidery/tapestry, maybe using wool rather than fiddly embroidery thread. |
