Has any one used an air purifier? Do they work and which is the best to buy?

Sorry don't know anything about air purifiers but maybe I should get one!
I have an old dog who farts rather a lot and it keeps setting the gas alarm off in the kitchen.

They supposed to work for allergies & asthma. Just wondered if anyone has used one and if one is worth getting as some are quite expensive.

Some 20 years ago I bought one and had it on bedtable. Did not notice any difference apart from when I moved the table the wall behind it was black. So it was filtering but straight on the wall!

Had one when I smoked. Worked very well but that was at least 8 years ago and it was very large. Had to get rid of it recently after being in storage for years as I could no longer get the filters.

The ones today seem very small so not sure how they work.

PS Rose had a thread on here recently re ionisers - is that the same thing?

Vera's posting made me think again, I was talking about an ioniser. However I used to many years ago again have a Remington purifier which cleared a room of smoke and was very efficient. Then the filters became hard to get and I stopped smoking!

Ok thanks for that! Have taken a look at that thread! May have a look in Argoa & Currys now as well!
