Island

Island Report 21 Jul 2011 16:09

One couple complain about a cockerel and now no-one in town knows where food comes from? :-0 :-0

You are dead right, Island, people don't like to think about life and death in the country. But that is where all our food comes from. Plants and animals.

'People'? who are these people?

My tongue was in my cheek with my previous post Helen :-D

Sorry but I do find it very ignorant when general comments are made about town and city people. You'd be surprised at how much some of us know about the nitty gritty of nature and where our food comes from. Heavens above, some of us even grow our own veg and keep chickens. :-0 :-0 :-D :-D

Well, Island, so do I. Check out my previous posts!!! Chooks and veg. coming out my ears. Been here nearly 24 years.

I think these "people" are almost everyone I meet - who mostly weren't born here. Or who seriously don't get out at all. Even from their own villages. (Probably the transport, lol!!) No-one seems to have a clue. And, in town, it's even worse. But that's their business. I live a great life.

Helen, i think people who behave badly do so whether they are at home or away. I just don't think it fair to tar everyone from the same environment with the same brush :-0 :-D

I live in a city block of flats and was amazed to hear of a new neighbour complaining about the church bells on a sunday. Such a shame they built that old church just to annoy him LOL :-D

I'd like to see those chooks coming out of your ears - you should go on Britains Got Talent LOLOL :-D :-D

Island, think I may do so! LOL! That would be a sight!

I agree with you. I really don't tar everyone with the same brush at all. But I am amazed by "people" I would consider as "locals" who really don't have a clue. We live 6 miles out of town and it could be a million miles for some of them. And their families have been here generations. (Insert Family History stuff here) I have been helping some of my friends find their (extremely local ) ancestors.

But the wretched church bells...that's different!! When we first arrived here in1988, courtesy of OH's new job, nothing was open from Friday to Monday. We had to be a lot more organised. And on Monday night the bell-ringers were practising. And my middle baby, never a good sleeper would scream for hours. One night my OH said " I'm just going up to kill the vicar." I said, "Please don't do that, the baby hasn't been christened yet!" And so the vicar survived another day and the baby was christened a year or so down the line. And his little brother.

I think the thing is, where there isn't much traffic noise, the bells are awfully loud!! When I retire I think I'm going to learn bell-ringing to get my own back.
