Don't you have any local by-laws about bonfires Joanne?

I have absolutely no idea. If it happens again tomorrow, then I'll phone the council and have a word. The trouble is that i have no idea where it's coming from. There is no sign of smoke outside......just the awful smell. Yesterday, it smelt like burning rubber and then changed to wood burning smell.

Oooh Smells.
Well it depends which way the wind is blowing. One day it is a cabbage/sprout smell coming across the A14 from somewhere.Another smell is Weetabix from the Weetabix factory some way off.Next doors bonfires.I have no idea what they burn. But sometimes it makes your eyes water and throat sting, and then we have the dog ..... WIND.........I say no more lol

Lol, Joanne.

We live in the country (as if you haven't guessed) and I have a man who comes round to fight with trees and shrubs a couple of times a month.

He says he can't light a bonfire until the wind would blows the smoke away from local houses. This often means we have a bonfire that is about 20 ft high waiting to burn.... Fortunately he got rid of mine this week but my neighbour has a massive one on the go....At least we can burn here, although it's only about once every three months.

I keep smelling someone smoking cigarettes in my home. The thing is I have never had any relatives or friends who smoke . Spooky. -jl

My neighbour lay awake all one night cursing the person who had left the bonfire smouldering with plastic on it. It was the electrics burning out on his car.

Where we made the big balls up we have the smell of sweet peas wafting strongly about the garden. Yeh, all the peas we grew to eat turned outto be sweet peas and all were purple as well.
