Roy "women love to watch programs about this subject but if no one watched them the programmers would not broadcast them"

do they? Personally I prefer a good murder, or property /antiques/ gardening/history programmes ;-)

I don't watch the soaps anymore either... omg maybe I am un-natural :-D

Roy, you are stating that "some" men are starting to use male beauty products but perhaps suggesting that all "women love to watch programs about this subject". Not all women are interested in these programs. I'm not and I know a lot of women who aren't interested either. I don't think I'm influenced by the media - I don't want to look like a 20 y.o. - although perhaps my OH would ;-)

The advent of male beauty products is an extension of the obsession with looking young that is media driven but also "Hollywood" driven to a certain extent. Having said that - my adult son uses a shaving balm because aftershave lotion is irritating on his skin so I'm glad for that advancement in male bathroom products.

Sorry, But it is a fact that over the last 50 years plus media coverage on female beauty and its perception of the female form have been targeted towards all women from a very young age and it has now become an obsession,

Male beauty and male beauty products did not exist other than aftershave and deodorants other products for men are a resent thing and as such over the last 10 years or so has now for the first time started to have that same affect on some males, But only those who appear to spend more time in the bathroom than their female partners, I do no of such men and most only took an interest after pressure from the female partners

So pressure from the media and the pressure from some females is now leading men down the same route and it is all media led

we are all free to buy or not to buy and as for TV coverage we no how to change channel and how to switch it off,

women love to watch programs about this subject but if no one watched them the programmers would not broadcast them

Roy

Hi ya Sue ,, thats fine and thats not what I am ranting about .. its the condecending way adverts are aimed at our age group.
Anyway I am off to bed as I have 15 different face and eye creams to apply .. a cling film wrap that will reduce my waist by 10 inches.. a hair sirum so in the morning my hair is like silk , cucumbers on my eyes (if OH gets hungry during the night he is sorted )
Some nice smelling pads in case I wake up smelling like a woman in the morning..a bra to wear in bed in case my assetts drop below my knees in the early hours and a welcoming smile on my face for OH ;-)
Dermot , I have to agree with you there but it does leave me wondering if some of these 'celebs' have already been embalmed :-)

SueMaid Report 20 Jun 2012 23:18

I see what you mean Neubie but I look after my skin and I like to dress nicely (age appropriate of course). I'm not trying to look younger - 60 is in the horizon but I like to think I look ok for my age. I might add that the adverts and magazines don't influence me - I'm not looking for eternal youth.

Neubie Report 20 Jun 2012 23:16

I would just eat everything in sight and employ a designer to make my clothes bigger.. :-D
PS I would be 4 sizes smaller in the US anyway ;-)

"The skinny on Oprah's slimline look: How a new chef has helped the star drop 25lbs in just SIX weeks

..If you thought Oprah Winfrey had been looking slimmer of late, then it seems you'd be right.
The TV host, 58, has lost 25lbs in just six weeks, it was revealed today, shedding much of the weight she had gained over the past 18 months due to the pressures of running her OWN network.
The secret to her success, sources say, is a lean, low-calorie diet implemented by her new chef. "

Slimline new look: Oprah Winfrey, pictured in April (left) and more recently on June 8 (right), has lost 25lbs in just six weeks after embracing a new diet and exercise regime, it was revealed today

The fast results were also thanks to the fact that she has resumed her regular treadmill workouts with trainer Bob Greene, they added."

Do you know if I had her millions and a personal chef and trainer I rather think I might lose a few pounds also..... I might even look younger because the worry lines would ease off

:-D

Oh come off it Roy .. Media has been playing on women getting older since the year dot..
You don't buy TV adverts ..
Although I have noticed more TV ads aimed at men over a certain age ...
Maybe things are changing?

Neubie Report 20 Jun 2012 22:54

Roy .. I agree but when all you get on the TV and in the media is 'you must look younger' .. this does not reflect the thinking of women that these idiots are trying to aim their advertising at..
Its a flippin insult .. twiggy looks cute in her wannabe 20 years old outfits .. but I don't want that ..Thats why she was called twiggy !
I don't want to be told by some 30 year old fashion magnet on telly that if I wear flaired jeans , high heels and a dropped belt i can wear stuff 20 year olds are wearing .. I want to wear what looks good on me

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 20 Jun 2012 22:44

I think you need to look inward, women are the driving force behind the myth that men prefer the perfect female form,

whilst it may be the case that a man may look at much younger women that does not mean that they prefer the younger female above the much older lady

is it not true that an older woman also likes to look at some younger men even just as a bit of eye candy?

You ladies bring this on your selves by reading and believing such things,
I would never expect my wife do anything other than grow old with me gracefully, ;-)

As for pot bellied men and younger women the truth is these women are only really interested in the financial security through the size of their bank balance

Proof, If Peter stringfellow was a council worker does anyone really believe these beauties he has around him would give him a second look, and he has not even got the pot belly

Sorry Rose .. Hiya PH ..
Just really peed off with the thinking that women are not allowed to age gracefully .. Why can't women smell like women anymore ?
It's all about preventing ageing WHY?.. I don't want to look 20 , I am over 50 and pretty darned proud of it ..
I don't want boobs that are higher than my jaw line and I really don't care if I can't wear hipster jeans anymore if I eat more than 3 chips a month..
Still waiting for someone to bring out male panty pads
:-D
