Nolls from Harrogate

Nolls from Harrogate Report 23 Jul 2013 18:14

I know it's only a story ...but too real ... I won't watch it for that period as I watch Soaps for enjoyment and escapism .... I know you will all think I'm daft but can't help it :-(

No Nolls I know what you mean, I hope they don't drag it out for too long or make it too traumatic, I appreciate why they do these scenarios but it is not always a pleasure to watch.

Ann I always feel there might be someone suffering the same and I don't think I would like to watch if as the plot seems to be the demise of Haley and the fact that they gave you last night that only about 1 in 5 survived . I know what they are trying to do but I don't like it so it's ta ta Corrie for the time being ...Did the same with Neighbours years ago when Madge got cancer when my mum was diagnosed and do you know have never watched it since...Ok call me daft I know :-)

Yes those odds are scary. Maybe it might alert somebody to seek advice though.

I would prefer to weep at soap operas than real life! As long as it is sensitively acted and directed, I feel this particular theme may be of help to some folk. Each to his own, though.

I know the effects of pancreatic cancer,I know someone who had it a few years ago.

There were no symptoms, but suddenly she woke up one morning with crippling pain in her stomach. Luckily it was caught in time, and although she had part of her stomach removed, she has recovered. She will always be on tablets, but she was very lucky.

Every so often the soaps do an illness to make us all aware. With the increase of cancer in general, I suppose it had to happen.

I want to know where is Tyrone? The garage is shut? Thought Tommy had gone back to help him.

I guess all soap operas have to reflect real life, even the daft bits, because as we know that's how life can be.

I think the writers will give Hayley and Roy excellent lines as, for me, they are two of the best characters and actors in Corrie and feel sure the story will not offend.
Lots of viewers will have been affected by the subject.

Mauatthecoast Report 27 Jul 2013 19:41

I thought Roy was a tad over the top going (with his shopping bag) to hospital and asking to see Oncologist.....he's a funny fella :-S

But good thing Kirkey was there in the factory for laughs ....."is Beyoncé coming to work here?" ;-) :-D

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 27 Jul 2013 20:11

and how comforting were Beth and Norris over Hayley's illness - Beth said "That's what done for Patrick Swayze" and Norris went on about someone with a tumour the size of a grapefruit!!! Tracey is an evil bitch :-D :-D

Just a wee thing...Is it the same bag Roy had when he first came to Corrie? Read then it was his mothers and he had it with him when he went for audition and they liked it and told him to keep it but hey that was years ago surely a new one by now?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Jul 2013 21:42

Looks the same though

Island

Island Report 27 Jul 2013 22:12

I think it's the same bag - Roy doesn't take well to change.

I read an interview with the actor some time ago and he said he felt Roy had autistic traits. I think David Neilson plays the part brilliantly.

Nolls from Harrogate

Nolls from Harrogate Report 28 Jul 2013 23:09

I don't think I have ever seen David Neilson act in anything else can't imagine him being any different but I am sure he is..... as you say a good actor..... :-D

Mauatthecoast

Mauatthecoast Report 29 Jul 2013 10:33

David Neilson is more well known for Corrie but he's appeared in lots of acting roles. A couple of Mike Leigh films in particular.

I read that too Island....

Oh Lor, Corrie are in trouble.

Apparently Roy said to Hayley that he had tickets for her to see Midnight Tango.

It seems that this is a real show with Vincent and Flavia from Strictly. So............advertising!

Also, Flavia's real life boyfriend Jimi Mistry is joining Corrie soon.

Fur is flying!

How the lines between fact and fiction blur.

:-0 :-0 :-0 :-0

Island

Island Report 29 Jul 2013 21:24

Oh no! not the fur again :-0

I do hope this 'racist' storyline ends soon. It is embarrsingly bad.

So who doesn't want to grab David by the snout and give it a good twist? :-| :-| :-|

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 29 Jul 2013 22:19

I must admit to wanting to see the smug look wiped off his face.

ChrisofWessex

ChrisofWessex Report 29 Jul 2013 22:58

The sooner David's evil is discovered the better. Still want to know where Tyrone has disappeared to.

I only watch Corrie but the story lines are being dragged out and I could end up not watching ever more. Oh horror of horrors. :-0

Ann - just noticed - what a lovely photo with your latest pride and joy!! <3
