I also would prefer the issues be sorted out on the boards so that all members have a equal chance to see your answers.

As I have said more than once this is NOT about money it IS about GR not doing what they have said they would do, charge everyone the same price for the same services. Making it fair and just to ALL members. At the moment there are vast differences in membership prices and as you may expect this is bound to cause unrest.

Hi Island and Tenerife Sun,

Like any business, we run offers for lapsed members from time to time to generate new business. As you know, we also reward our loyal members with discounted subscriptions when you renew.

That is why many of our older members are still paying a much lesser amount for a standard subscription than a new member.

As mentioned yesterday, we are not trying to avoid this situation, it would not be in our interest to do that.

However, if any member feels that they have been short changed, our Customer Support team are more than happy to look into individual situations if you contact them directly.

Regards,

Shelley

When is a loyal member not a loyal member?

When is an older member ( with continuous membership) not an older member?

How long is a piece of string?

Joy Report 9 Jan 2014 20:22

So why, from the link that I quoted, did GR state the following?

"We are slowly moving everyone to the new renewal rate and as this is a gradual process it will affect different members at different times"

and

" we are slowly moving everyone over to the same renewal price."

Presumably the reaction to those statements caused them to rethink.

However it is surprising that they didn't say anything about abandoning the idea.

Hi Natasha - have a look at this thread, surely GR can do something to stop these pop ups appearing, they are becoming very annoying :-(

Hi OneFootInTheGrave,

Natasha has now moved to a new position.

Regarding the pop-ups, both the Genes team and the ad serving company are looking in to this one. We will keep you posted.

Shelley you posted this on 4 Feb 2014 16:51 on DetEcTive's thread on the military chat board,

Could you save the urls on this thread? We have had reports of urls on threads which seem to be causing an issue, and will be removing the posts which contain links.

Regards

Shelley

I have posted my responce on that thread 4 Feb 2014 17:01

Shelly, I have never heard of anyone posting that a url has caused any problem.

Is this linked/connected to the reported Java problem?

We have been posting url with the Hyperlink for years and it's never been a problem in the past.

If we are not to post a link then that will affect GR members who are asking for help with GR and cannot find the info they require,......we often post the hyperlink to the GR page in question so it appears to me that this action will just make GR even less user freindly than it is now

Hi Roy,

Posting hyperlinks is absolutely fine, please continue to do so. We are troubleshooting the issue regarding anti-virus pop-ups/prompts. There may be a link to an unsafe page, which we are trying to determine.

Thanks Jax,

I've received your attachment and forwarded for attention. I see that you are using Internet Explorer - with issues such as these we do tend to ask which browser people are accessing Genes Reunited on, to establish whether it is isolated to a particular browser.

If anyone is using Chrome, Firefox or Safari and seeing the pop-ups, please let me know.

Regards

Shelley

I have seen members using Firefox having these problems but cannot remember which members,

From what i read members using Adblocker don't appear to have this problem,

The members who have installed Adblocker to try and resolve this issue

It appears to work for them? so far,

Which is why members think the problem is linked to the adds

Shelley,

I use Mozilla Firefox and until I added Ad Block a few days ago I was getting these pop-ups/messages.

Since installing Ad Block site is best it has been for months.
