ok 2 days ago my computer updated itself, all my other sites are ok,when I try to get on genes all I get is.

HTTP503.0 service unavailable.
looking at the page that comes up it says logon method--not yet determined.
logon user--not yet determined.
also on the home page it says it cannot gather my updates or announcements.
I tried to send a email to support but I do not know if it got there,
how can I sort this out,do genes have a phone number.
I am not sure if this will post or when I will be able to get back to the boards but if anyone could do or advise me what to do I would be very grateful.
thanks sue

If your using Internet Explore browser you may have been updated from IE 10 to version IE 11.
GR has issues with this new version .

Might be a good idea to uninstall IE 11 & reinstall IE 10 - RolloTheRed will probably help if and when he comes on line.

Sue that has been happening with the error message for a long time. If it comes up after you have pressed submit, you will usually find that the post has been added if you just press the back button.

There is a problem with IE 11 which GR have mentioned on Facebook....shame they have not mentioned it on this site though

So if you are not a member of Facebook.....tough :-D

I've been having problems with IE11 since it was made available to Windows 7 last week. I can access all my sites, but it doesn't allow me to type in them.. I have had to add them to Firefox in order to access GR, my banking, internet shopping and paying bills. I did do a System restore date before installing as advised by computer adviser - I read reservations on an earlier thread so asked him, he said he didn't know of any yet - but that was in fact the first day IE11 was made available for Windows 7. I haven't yet restored to IE10 in case it gets sorted with a new update - - and am managing fine with Firefox - but it is irritating!

Not really this was their reply to someone who was experiencing error messages

Genes Reunited Which browser are you using? There's currently an issue with IE 11 which we are fixing, but we have a workaround for you if that's the one you are on!

The Genes Reunited website has a compatibility view problem with Internet Explorer 11.

The fix is

Click the Tools icon (or Alt + X) - the cog shaped one top right of your screen

Click Compatibility View settings in the drop down list

Add the Genes Reunited website - genesreunited.co.uk

Cheers

on google it said if you uninstall e11 you will automatically go back to e10,so I uninstalled it and now I do not have any errors, everything seems to be as it was before.

I've had the same problem.

When I connected to the internet today, I received a message saying update ti IE 11. I closed the message and thought that I would still be on IE 10 :-|

At the moment, I'm using chrome to access the site

Elizabeth2469049 Report 22 Nov 2013 22:43

Unknown's formula for using compatibility view is working for me, but you do have to access each site individually first and use the tool as a separate exercise for each. I was able to able to get to the sites but not use them - but am now going through all those I have now bookmarked on Firefly - I suppose this may be a good thing to have them all duplicated!

I'd like to know.........

Which is the OFFICIAL GenesReunited website?

This one?

or

Facebook?

Anything which concerns members should be posted HERE first. It seems that lots of things are posted on Facebook and not here at all. That's not good enough!

Scozz,

Totally agree with you. I am not a member of Facebook, nor do I intend to be.

I pay my fees for this site, and all messages etc, should be posted on here :-|
