Hope you're feeling better Jem.

Thank you for the photo. I remember all the trouble over him going to league and then rules altering to get him back to union.

Well I told you I'd let you know

WE HAD TWO TEN MINUTE SHOWERS THIS MORNING.

First rain here since May. The pup hadn't seen rain before and she ran round and round the outside of the house getting wet and muddy. Had to wash her paws to allow her in, she didn't like that but loved the rub down with a towel to dry her off.

Outside soon dried as it was about 28 C at the time.

See you later on Radio Jem. :-) <3

Hello All

Jem, hope Grandson 1 isn't going too far away. Perhaps he will still pop in regularly to see you and soon have a diagnosis and improve healthwise so he can continue with his college studies.

Now you have a date for you own operation which is good and even better that it doesn't coincide with your beloved Wales Rugby games. Hope it makes you feel better in yourself. Keep focused on getting your operation over and improving.

Pat, thanks for the sparkling pom poms for tomorrow I hope you have shaken all the sand out of them? I'm still practicing well, left right twirl, left right twirl tra la la la la.

I think your neighbourhood must attract all the waifs and stray animals around!
I hope someone claims the dog, he sounds a little beauty and someone must be worried that he has disappeared just now. I wonder why he isn't chipped though??

Pat, how popular will you be asking your family your family fly in with your shopping list, but I can't blame you and would probably do the same thing myself.

Hope all looking in will enjoy the rest of this evening, and have a good day tomorrow.

Hi Everyone :-) :-) <3

Sorry, I've not read back properly as yet, but I will do soon.

I have had a bit of a crisis at home,
Grandson 1 has moved out :-( :-( :-(
So I'm very tearful at the moment, but ne'er mind, I shall just have to pick myself up!

My hospital operation appointment came via telephone.
It's for Monday September 28th.
The timing is good, as there are no RWC matches that day, and no UK matches until Wales play Fiji on Thursday late afternoon.

Love to you both, Jem <3

PatinCyprus Report 17 Sep 2015 16:08

Afternoon all. :-)

Looks like autumn is setting in, only 29 C today.

Mozart is beginning to get his winter coat so is getting fluffy. He lies under the big table out on our back patio in the heat of the day. He's in shade, on cool slabs and in a breeze that comes down the drive.

Kitten is fast asleep next to me. He comes for company if next door are out in the afternoons. He was taken to the vets on Monday for a check up, he's fine and he's settled next door. He just likes a bit of company. At the moment Mozart is out the back and the female cat from next door, who we nicknamed Skitty Kitty, is fast asleep on the sitting room's outside window sill.

You'll never guess what happened on Monday night. We came back from the Jewish New Year celebration. (friend had a mixed meat meal which included pork so she asked us not to tell her mother :-D) OH popped round next door to talk to them as they were in their garden. I came in here to open up as it was hot inside. I wasn't in long when I heard OH just outside the open front door. Well I thought it was OH. :-S

I was sat down on the settee and suddenly I was looking at a 3 month old cross lab female pup. She's a beauty and very light blonde coloured. Next door are looking after her, she's been to the vets (with kitten) and she's fine. Her photo has gone online and into local shops. She's friendly and obedient but she was very frightened. I calmed her down and gave her a drink of water. She went next door as they have dog food. Hope we find her owners and that she hasn't been dumped. She wasn't chipped which is a legal requirement here so who knows.

Our 2 houses must have an invisible sign which the animals can see. :-D

If it stays cooler tomorrow I'll attack the kitchen/dining area and wash all the glasses etc. :-( Has to be done just can't get enthused. :-0

Hope all is going well with your grandson Jem and daughter is feeling much better.

Kandj I will be able to practise tonight as much cooler now. Left right, twirl, left right, twirl. Yes I can cope with that. :-D ;-) I'm sending you the pompoms tonight, it'll be the white ones as it's England. They have been washed so they are sparkling. :-D

We've been shopping online and sending daughter the things to bring out. OH wanted some electronic and drill stuff. I raided Boots. :-D Her suitcase is going to be full of our bits and pieces. Mine is mainly make up and hair colouring. Make up is expensive here and hair colouring is permanent and limited unless you go to the hairdresser. I like Nice and Easy for grey hair to cover my white/grey. As my hair is lots of shades from dark brown to white the colour comes out natural looking. It only colours the grey/white so the effect makes it look natural. Much better than a block colour with streaks and not so harsh on the hair. :-D It's also 3 for 2 at Boots at the moment. :-)

OH felt good yesterday so got out the power hose to do the drive and patios and get all the sand/dust out. Guess who went backwards to the edge of the front patio and fell off onto the steps. So now he has a sore arm and shoulder as well as his back. :-(

Well I have to go and get ready, off out again. Out tomorrow early on but will be back before the start as it'll be 10 pm here.

Left right, twirl, left right, twirl. :-D

Have a good evening all. Hope you and yours are all well, see you on Radio Jem. :-) <3

Hello All

Another cold wet and dark day. We had the gas boiler serviced this morning so we feel safe and have peace of mind for another year now.

Still not suitable for being outside, so I have been doing a little housework most of today.. while hubby has watched previously recorded programmes on TV, so it's been a quiet relaxing day really for the two of us.

Jem, I hope Grandson 1 managed alright in college. Perhaps it would be wise to make staff and others aware of his symptoms until your Grandson has a diagnosis.

I do hope that the antibiotics are helping to make your daughter feel more comfortable so that your family is able to relax a little better than last week.

Soon be radio Jem time again. You do really well to keep everyone up to date with lots of rugby news when you have so much happening, and not well yourself now.

Pat, I hope the humidity has lessened in Cyprus so that it is less draining for you all.

What does Mozart the cat do to keep cool and is the stray kitten still around now?

Did you have anything planned today/tonight to celebrate the 75th anniversary anniversary of the RAF's victory in the Battle of Britain?

Many veterans and service men and women attended a service in St Paul's Cathedral and then later on to mark this important event around 40 Spitfires,Hurricanes and Bristol bombers took part in the biggest congregation of wartime aircraft since WW2. That would have been an awesome sight!

I'm still doing the twirls for the two of us as it is so hot where you are but would be pleased to borrow the pom poms once again for Friday nights rugby game please.
Left right twirl, left right twirl, left right twirl, left right twirl tra la la la la la

Goodnight now to all who are reading this, hope you have a peaceful sleep.

Good Evening Roll Callers :-) :-) <3

Well, I'm saying "good" evening, but it's a terrible evening, weather wise! In fact, it's been a terrible day. After a morning of heavy showers, gale force winds arrived and torrential rain! I think we can say that summer is well and truly over! Well, in Wales at least!

After dropping off G.Son1 in college this morning I went into town, stopping off first at A*di where I treated myself to a new Wales World Cup polo shirt :-D :-D
I am hoping that Wales stays in the competition long enough for me to get some use out of it, as it has " Rugby World Cup 2015" on it! :-S :-S

I wouldn't normally buy a dated/ competition logoed top, as once that particular competition is over, then it's out-of-date! But I succumbed, as it was quite cheap, and actually very good quality.

Not long to go now, with the first game Friday Evening... England v Fiji at 8pm.
I really must start preparations for our thread, and start posting fixtures etc.

Thankyou both for your concern for my Grandson, and Daughter :-) :-) <3

Pat, you are wise to wait until it's cooler before doing anything too strenuous, especially trying to clean up all that sand!:-( I hope you have seen the last of the sand storm for a long time!

Are you out tonight? If so, I hope you are having a great time, and that OH's back is ok :-)

Kandj,
We have had the heating on today too, especially as I needed to dry some washing on the radiators.
I quite like feeling warm and cosy while I can hear a storm raging outside :-)
Not so good for those who have property damage, or are injured through the storms though!
The shawl sounds like it's coming on well, and sounds very pretty :-)

Goodnight my friends, sleep well :-) :-) <3

Hello All

A cold, wet and dark day today, we have had the heating on as it's seemed chilly even inside. A job less for me to water the plants and tubs and so I have been knitting the baby shawl for our niece new baby due in February today. It is looking good!

Pat, thank you for the pm explaining your friend's way of celebrating the Jewish New Year.Hope you have a good night together for so special an occasion for her.

It still sounds nasty and humid for you in Cyprus, thankfully the sand storm seems to have calmed down and I hope it won't come back again in a hurry.

Jem, I hope that things have calmed down a little for you after such a bad week. Hopefully, this week will be a whole lot better for you and all your family. Take care.

Goodnight wishes to everyone.

PatinCyprus Report 14 Sep 2015 13:12

Afternoon all and Shanah Tovah. (happy new year)

Kandj, am sending you both a PM but my Jewish friend doesn't do anything Jewish for this occasion.

The temperature is dropping now the sand has cleared but the humidity is high. Has got up to 90% on 1 occasion, am dripping if I do anything. Still have some ironing to do, will do it just before I get into the shower this evening. At the moment we have a heavy cloud base but they're all white, it's a bit early for rain unless we get a big storm.

There's a sandy film over everything outside, we'll slowly get round to it but it's too hot to stay out working for very long. OH is talking about using the power hose later on in the week when we know what weather we'll get next week in case the wind changes and we get the sand back. :-0 At the moment he has our big fan on a stand in pieces as the blades were covered in sand. All the fly screens will need taking down and washing (under the shower). Should have seen the shower curtain, the outside near a small window was a different colour to the inside, that's been washed.

Glad this is once in a blue moon occasion, the normal sand problems are far less severe. By the way the EU claim the sand storms we get are pollution and the air quality is so poor it fines Cyprus for the pollution. Now you work out how it's a Cyprus caused problem???????????

Have a good evening all :-) <3

Hello All

Even more weeding again this afternoon, there is no end to it but I think I am making just a little headway.... or at least I do hope so after all my ongoing efforts.

Pat, that is good news now that you are able to see the Med. Hopefully the sandstorm is clearing and won't come back.
I don't know much about the Jewish New Year tomorrow but I will try to find 5 mins and google this important event, enjoy your night out with your Jewish friend.
I am still managing the pom pom shaking for us both Pat, hopefully when the air has cleared in Cyprus you will feel a lot more likely to take over Head Cheer Leader.

Jem, that must be such a worry for you with Grandson 1 having health problems and then your daughter too but in a different hospital.... one thing after another
I hope everything works out well with the two of them. Fingers crossed that they will both feel better and everything will calm down and get back to normal for everyone. It must be a huge worrying time....... sending hugs to you right now.

Jem, loving your avatar but whatever happened to Leigh Halfpenny?.
Still doing the left right twirl, left right twirl for me and Pat just now.... left right twirl.

My tidy head comes from necessity Jem. I don't like it to get too untidy or I would never find the time to sort things out, so it's a case of needs must I'm afraid ha ha.

Sending goodnight wishes to everyone looking in, sweet dreams to you all.

Good Afternoon Roll Callers :-) :-) <3

Well, it's been not a great week all in all in the Jem Family this week!

Grandson 1 is now home awaiting more tests. It's a very worrying situation, as it may be an ongoing problem.

His Mum, my daughter, was also admitted to another hospital about 25 miles away, on Thursday. She was kept in overnight while they administered strong antibiotics through a drip for a bad infection. She is feeling much better now, though.

Thank you both for your concern and best wishes, it is very much appreciated :-) <3

Your Cheer Leading Turn for the World Cup Opening Show is coming on a treat! So keep up the twirling, you will outshine them all!;-) :-D :-D

I'm so glad that now Cyprus is free of all that sand, as Radio Jem couldn't be without the dedicated service of it's Overseas Correspondent if the signal went down ;-) :-D :-D
I'm glad that you were not too badly affected health-wise from the sand Pat! I did look at the video on your link! :-( :-(

Well, done Kandj on all the digging, weeding and clearing!:-)
What I really want to know is .....Where did you got your "tidy head" from?.... and are they expensive? .... cos I could really do with one! ;-) :-D

Granddaughter 2 (13) is here to see how her big brother is!
He's the best big brother anyone could have and they all love him!
Mind you, if he lived in their house, perhaps they'd change their minds :-D :-D :-D

Hello All

It's been a strange couple of days because all day yesterday I kept thinking it was Saturday (??) and today I have thought it was Sunday(??), definitely losing the plot!!

I haven't done anything in the garden today but I did go to a neighbour who is on holiday and watered tomatoes and courgettes in their greenhouse as I promised.

Pat, the sand storm isn't keeping you in the house but I hope it will clear soon.
Your temperatures sound uncomfortable and would just drain what little bit of energy we had. Are you meeting up with your Jewish friend on Monday to help her celebrate the Jewish New Year..... do you eat traditional Jewish food that night?

Don't attempt the pom pom twirls in such hot/humid weather... I'll do it for you Pat.
Left right twirl, left right twirl, left right twirl, left right twirl tra la la la la left right twirl.

Jem, I hope that Grandson 1 is feeling better and allowed to come home now.
Take it easy yourself, I hope that the hospital puts you "on hold" until rugby finishes.

Bed time now, so wishing all who are reading this a very good night's sleep tonight.

Afternoon all,

Still have a sand problem but it's easing. It hasn't troubled the breathing of either of us other than I had a fit of sneezing yesterday. :-D Don't know when it will totally clear, never known it like this. We have this problem a couple of times a year and it's usually mild, all you notice is a slight brown tinge to the sky. Have known it this thick once about 15 years ago, we were on holiday here. It lasted about 4 hours, it rained and sand was everywhere.

The temperature has been up to 40 C under the sand, it was 38 C out our back this morning when I was sorting out washing. It did dry quickly. This afternoon the humidity's climbing fast, it's up in the 70% here now. We'll see what next week brings.

OH's back isn't too bad and we have a night in tonight. We will have reindeer salad tonight. Next door brought us back some smoked reindeer meat and a large jar of roll mop herrings. :-D Herrings for next week whenever we're in. :-0

Out Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the moment. Kandj the Jewish New Year is Monday.

Kandj thank you for doing my practise for me, far too hot and humid for any physical exercise :-D, I'll catch up soon. ;-)

Jem, I hope all is OK with your grandson, you must be very worried. Remember we are here for you. Make sure you don't over do it. :-)

Hope you all have a good day and night. :-) <3

Hello All

Dry and sunshine today but cool now which suits us both. Another cupboard cleared and sorted this morning. I seem to have my tidy head on just now.
More gardening again this afternoon. I had intended to go outside for a half an hour and hubby knocked on the window and said I had done enough..... he was right too and I had a shock when i looked at the clock and found I had been digging weeds for almost two hours, no wonder I felt exhausted, silly me I shall be aching tomorrow now.

Jem, so sorry to hear that Grandson 1 is in hospital, I hope it's nothing too serious and that he will feel well enough to come home soon. Such a worry for you all.

Pat, I had no idea the sand storm was so bad. Thanks for the link, it looks nasty.
Is this affecting your breathing at all? I dread to think how hubby would cope but then he would probably need hospital admission.Does this happen often in Cyprus?

Can you still twirl and shake the pom poms with all that sand dust in the air? Don't attempt to overdo it Pat, I will practice for the two of us until your lock down ends.

I hope everyone will enjoy the rest of this evening.

Some of the sand has lifted and I can see the castle. You should have seen the house. Everywhere had a covering of fine sand. We've got sun but it's still hazy. temps in the mid 30s. Can only see the village, any further is in a haze.

Washed this morning and got everything dry very quickly. Got it in as soon as possible just in case. Have seen this before but never for this long. We now have been told that we've had some Sahara sand added to the Syrian dust/sand. :-(

Out Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. We all stood and toasted HM Queen Elizabeth ll at 7.30 our time 5.30 BST last night. We are out tonight again and tomorrow. I'll be washing again over the weekend. :-(

Glad you're keeping up the practise Kandj we'll be brilliant by the end of the world cup. :-D ;-) Left right, twirl, left right, twirl.
