Enjoy your time in Dumfries, been near there when we took the caravan up to Scotland for 3 weeks in the August holidays in the late 1980s. Had a wonderful time up there.

It's 28 C today - NEWS FROM CYPRUS - we heard thunder yesterday and the patio almost got wet :-0, rain lasted about 2 minutes.

When it does finally rain people will be outside, standing in it :-D

Good weekend for birthday boy but by Sunday night we were tired.

Friend still waiting to find out when her OH will be coming out. He has now arranged a meeting in London on 26th so 27th the earliest he can fly out. Friend says she's not bothered as she has to go back 2 weeks after he comes out so she'll have longer out here. She has plenty to do as she goes to 2 line dances every week here and her husband's relatives are here She has got several friends here as well so she's just enjoying herself.

Out for Chinese buffet tonight but not staying late as we have a Facetime booked with friends. They are threatening to come out early next year so maybe this is them deciding when to come. :-)

Dog wasn't bothered by couple of claps of thunder so hopefully it'll never bother her. Our last dog had a firework explode near him (in daylight not bonfire night, a neighbour's charming son) and was petrified of thunder storms.

Have you finished your painting yet Joan? At least modern paints don't smell like the old paint - used to give me a headache.

Just realised we get an extra hour in bed this weekend - :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Have a lovely evening all :-)

Getting cooler here, have to wear a cardigan to walk the dog in the morning. It's 26 C now but was 16 C at 7am.

Wonder if the dog will let me have the extra hour this Sunday morning, she'll knock on the bedroom door if she wants to go out. Hope it works. :-D

Friend coming later, she's staying overnight. We are going to a Chinese buffet with friends tonight.

Have a good weekend and enjoy your extra hour :-)

Hello all, very grey here but not cold. Just been to tesco for the weekly shop. thank goodness schools go back again next week. Drove home across country, the trees are spectacular at the moment, only a pity the sun wasn't shining. Westonbirt Arboretum last weekend was a picture. There are photos on my blog if you have the addy, if you haven't and want it PM me.

Barbra, good to see this thread keeps going. well done.

Joan, glad we don't have your problem with having to sweep up the leaves. No doubt you will say it is worth it to have the trees.

Pat 26 degrees sounds lovely, I want some. :-D

26 C but very windy. I am sending the sun over to you Ann. :-D

OH's main Sunday meal - a pizza of his choice, and he's undecided at the moment, with extras added before cooking and I'm having a cheese and tomato omelette.

Dog a bit bemused this morning because of the extra hour. OH forgot to alter the clocks after he said he would do it. Fortunately I realised the bedside clock radio was on summertime when I went to bed so didn't get fooled. :-D OH has now altered the clocks.

The fire planes are up, the fire is about 20 kms or 12 1/2 miles away. Just heard there's 2 fires so there's 12 tenders out, 2 helicopters and 2 fire planes up. That's what happens when you don't get rain. Neither appears to be near houses. Start of the hunting season here, who wants to bet it's discarded cigarette stubs. :-|

Have a good Sunday evening, tomorrow is Halloween and our daughter's birthday.

:-)

Well we've got the rain, it came with a very strong wind at 3 am. There is minor damage in several places. The building site near us had metal panels all around it, note the word had. Workmen there putting them back up. Lots of lemons along the roads when walking the dog. Dog happy as she loves paddling and splashing in puddles. She's not happy now just had to clean her up after trying to dig her way out of the garden :-(

We have lost our garden arch over the gate. It was covered in 3 colours of bougainvillea which now will have to be cut back. Off to sort things out. See you later.

:-)

Hi all, still windy. I spent most of yesterday taking a friend to hospital.

She had a scan last week, suspected cancer. We queued to get the result then had to go elsewhere to queue for the doctor to see result to send her to the correct consultant - I know but it's the Cyprus way. After we had sat for a while my friend was called forward and sent to a queue outside a room. After about 30 mins she went in and came out looking confused then smiled. Turns out all docs on strike except 2 in this dept and those in A & E. This doc said all she could do was have a quick look at results and told my friend nothing bad found but she'd have to come back again to have the results explained. Appointment for next week made. At least she can breath a sigh of relief. She wants her 80th birthday party next year. :-D

Left OH sorting out arch, it's broken but we had to buy 2 arches to higher the basic arch to make sure people could walk underneath it. The original height was way over my head anyway. :-D OH had kept the spares so he has enough to replace the broken sections. He's cut off about half of the 2 bougainvilleas so when the wind dies down he'll put up the arch and I'll help with the replacing of the bougainvilleas. The plants look beautiful this time of the year, From the front door we have 1 to the right of the gate that runs across the low wall and up the arch, it's red. The other side has a plant which is a purple plant but has a graft for a white as well, this is planted under the hibiscus hedge so comes through the end of that and up the arch, over the top and onto the wall with the other plant. Looks beautiful. Well did.

OH taking it easy at the moment as back is reacting to yesterday's work. It's too windy to work outside - so he told me. ;-)

Dry today only 18 C but pleasant in the sun if sheltered from the wind. Dog doesn't like the wind. Hazy cloud that's all, no rain forecast today.

Have a lovely day all :-)

Sorry you have had that result. Keep strong we are here for you. Glad it's in the early stage. As I wrote earlier this week there was concern for a friend who may have had bowl cancer, fortunately she's ok.

You are so right about being checked, I get a letter every 2 years here to go for a mammogram. Half an hour from getting to the clinic to coming out - 30 mins out of your life to save it - no brainer.

Stay positive my cousin beat a cancer that spread to 4 places, specialist did a kill or cure, that was 10 years ago - she's clear but really went through it for about 6 months as the treatment was as aggressive as the cancer. Also know a neighbour who had breast cancer in the early stages - she had an op followed by radio therapy and is fine, it's over 15 years for her. Didn't seem affect her too much once physically over the op.

Keep smiling and any moans we are here. :-) <3 Good luck for next week, thinking of you. :-) <3

It's 20 C here. Only 14 C when we got in last night just before midnight. Quilt coming out today. :-)

We were a little rushed yesterday. Promised to be the club about 9 pm last night so decided we would eat there then wait for our friends. Got a call from someone just out for a few days - could we eat with them in a restaurant by where they are staying, they wanted an early meal. :-S We ate with the friends just out and then got back to our other friends at 9.15 pm, phew. It was a 20 mile return trip and going was through all the workers going home took ages.

Off to have a meal and listen to a singer tonight. He was part of a group who came 6 th for Cyprus in Eurovision in the 1980s. Sings Rat Pack type songs - what is referred to as a lounge singer. We'll see what he's like.

Hope you are feeling ok Barbra.

All have a good weekend, I may be about, as there's rugby on and I'm head cheerleader on Jem's thread. :-D

Sorry about your result Barbra, as you say onwards and upwards and all here are ready for you to 'lean' on.

Pat your winter is starting by the sound of it.
we still haven't had any rain and we are having to water the pansies we have in pots and baskets. Yesterday it was very cold here but dry and part sun, the day before was sunny, today it is back to being grey and damp.
OH had a cortisone injection in his shoulder this morning. He was not looking forward to it having had one in his slbow some years ago, however, he said he hardly felt this one. Let's hope it helps the shoulder get better. I will be glad when he can play golf again. :-D :-D :-D At the moment he is giving the lawn a last cut.
