I don't know where I was on the 1951 census. I assume that 8th April was the school holidays, and Easter 1951 was when my parents decided to go their separate ways. I might have been at home, or I might have been at my grandmother's, where I was sent for a few days before going back to school. |

The 1951 census is the one and only UK census that I will be on. We emigrated to Canada in 1952. |

Andysmum, that makes sense about when they were put in the letterboxes because I can only remember going to a few houses not streets of houses.....perhaps they were the houses that Dad couldn't get a reply :-) |

Londonbelle, it was impressed upon us that wherever possible we were to speak to someone. That way we picked up most of the houses where the owner/occupier had moved, and also ensured, as far as possible, that every household had a census form. |
