Going back to when the purple one was a brazil nut, covered with runny caramel and wrapped in chocolate......Yum, Yum.....

When the tin was passed round on Christmas night, i would have one eye on the festivites and the other eye on who had the audacity to take a purple one.

Then i would make a conscious effort in my mind.......to never, ever, never, invite that person for Christmas, never, ever, again.

Simples!

Sorry Mum. But honestly, how many times did i try to tell you, the purple ones were not for sharing!!

:-D

Kay????

Kay???? Report 3 Dec 2017 19:34

Well if youve had the greedy urge to open them now to chuck all the purple ones down your neck you wont be disapointed on christmas day.

:-D :-D. ;-)

Caroline Report 3 Dec 2017 19:50

I didn't like them anyway and my dad used to eat them all, it took a strong person to try and eat them in his house if you did like them :-)

Greedy Urge!! :-0

I opened the tin for medicinal purposes don't you know.

Chuck all the purple ones down my neck!! :-0

There were only 2 in the bleddy tin anyway. :-0

Things will be absolutely fine......i am gonna pop out tomorrow and buy a tin of Cadbury's Heroes.

Mind you, if anyone has the audacity to take the cream egg chocolates........

There maybe trouble ahead!!

I have an electrical technician as an o.h. so no worries over lights.

I too love the purple chocs (of course) but don't get access to big tubs of sweets now as o.h. being diabetic gets too tempted!

I liked the Toffee Penny desserts but can't find them in the shops anymore.

We should contact the manufacturers en masse and tell them we aren't happy about the change of nut and lack of availability of our purple delights.

I like nuts.
I like chocolate.
I don't like them mixed :-|
Anyone would have been welcome to any chocolate/nut combo's in my house. :-D

...obviously, that concoction from the abyss - Nutella - has never darkened my door - no matter how much my grandchildren like it.
I have peanut butter - eat that and be grateful!! :-| :-| :-|

I stopped buying the tins when the kids left home many years ago.

Now I have a pretty bowl that I fill with sweets (lollies to you in Oz) that I like, peppermint creams, choc peppermint creams, fudge, toffees, choc eclairs and ... oh, yes, a few gums and sour fruits that my OH likes.

It was great when we had several stores with pick-and-mix varieties because all of the QS sweets were available - especially the toffee pennies that I liked - but we have only one shop selling unwrapped pick-and-mix and I never buy unwrapped as they're a temptation for sticky little fingers.

I've fudged here, sorry. :-D :-D :-D

As far as Christmas trees and decorations are concerned, I have people come in to decorate for me ....... I WISH. :-D :-D :-D

I'm not keen on toffee, but I have just googled it and you can get toffee pennies on Amazon and also on e-bay.

UPDATE

You are sooo not going to beeeelieve this.

After searching high, low and just about everywhere i could think of, i thought sod it.

Soooo, i popped myself off to Haskins and bought a new set of lights........£24.99

Before i went, i said to my friend, how much to you want to bet, as soon as buy new lights, the bleddy tin with the spare bulbs will turn up!

Anyway.......popped the new lights on the tree and decorated it with all the bits and bobs.

And very beaudiful it looks too. :-D

Son arrived earlier and i said that there were 2 base pots missing for the two other trees.

Soooo, he popped up in the loft, found them and fetched down the box.

When i opened th box.......guess what came to light????

(Do you see what i did there ;-))

Yep.........the bleddy tin with the spare bulbs!! :-| :-|

When son left he asked......."You ok Mum?"

I smiled sweetly and replied......"Yes, lovely, thank you"

What i really wanted to say was......"No you daft sod. If you had bought down the box with all the other decorations, i wouldn't have spent all day yesterday having a nervous breakdown"

"Oh, and by the way, you owe me £24.99 for the new set of lights and a tin of Quality Street!"

Stroof!!! :-D

I would suggest, PH, that now you have seen the 'Light' that you go to a Carol Service on Christmas Eve

You may even meet three wise men...if there are any left in the world today ;-)
