I have a bit of a rough throat and been sneezing.

Decided to put some Vick on before bed.

Just the smell takes you back to your childhood.

I always use Vick when I have a cold/cough, it does help. I was amazed to see the other day, the other things vick can be used for. Ear ache for example I think it is the camphor oil in it.

That's not the only thing it can be used for, if you are adventurous ;-)

There's Olbas Oil for sprinkling over the pillows.
Lovely smell and good for coughs and colds.

I like Olbas oil really stinks but works, you can also put a few drops in the water when you want to steam your sinus!

Back in the mid sentries to early eighties I worked on the Grimsby Docks, both Commercial and Fishing.

Part of the duties was to do fish inspection which involved being at the Fish Docks around 5.30 am so that you could start the inspection before the market opened.

Beautiful in Summer but bitterly cold in Winter.

I found that during the winter, having the occasional Fisherman's Friend helped ward off the cold.

Hacks lozenges. They were sold loose, in a red tin with a white haired old bloke coughing into a hankie, depicted on the side of the tin.

Blimey, would elf and safety allow that today?

:-D :-D :-D

I bet not many will remember this way to help prevent bad colds and coughs...
In the winter When I was in junior school during the war,I had a block of camphor in a little bag round my neck on a cord and I can’t remember having many colds!

You can always put some Vick in a bowl with a little hot water to dissolve it, to make a steamy mist to breathe in, put your head under a towel over the bowl.

Don't forget, Vick on the soles of your feet while in bed, covered by warm socks, helps ease coughing. Pineapple juice also helps ease coughs and colds.

Get well soon, Mr Magoo

My Father who worked outdoors for Wimpey was rarely bothered by colds.

If he did have one he took Aspro and Beecham's Powder.
