I make my own frozen mash, never bought it .................

when we make mashed potatoes, I try to always make more than we need. If I can stop OH guzzling it all, I freeze what's left over in one or two serving packages (just wrap in saran, put into a freezer bag and bung it in the freezer.

When needed, I thaw it out in the microwave, then add a little more butter (marg in out case) and a little more milk. Mash it up a bit more with the masher, and then microwave it to serving temperature.

It's lovely

When I was still working - many moons ago - I used to order online from Icel*nd which, at that time, was the only store with an online order site with a home delivery.

One week my delivery contained two packs of frozen mash to replace an item that was out of stock. Although I had never tried it before, I accepted it - price wise it would have been silly not to do so.

I really liked it and would have bought it again but OH did not like it at all and, so, we stuck to the tried and tested method.

However, when I eat alone it's a different matter and at times like that I've even been known to use Sm*sh. While I never buy frozen chips (rarely eat them anyway), I do like frozen sweet potato chips - another thing OH does not care for.

Sylvia, I have never tried to freeze my own but I shall do so now, thank you. It seems a brilliant idea - can't think why I've never thought of it because I freeze whole plated dinners sometimes.

Joy ........

it is good, but just be sure you don't add too much butter or milk (especially milk), or it becomes really mushy.

It's a thumbs up for the frozen mash.

Fluffed up with milk, butter and pepper and it's good to go.

;-)

Glad you liked the frozen mash Prickles.
I had sausages with F Mash last night.
I don't buy a lot of frozen food but, I found another wee gem recently.

I usually make a big pot of soup at the weekend which OH has during the week
Recently I started to buy bags of frozen veg which is brill for making soups.

Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato, Cut Leeks, Chopped Celery and Sliced Onions

I now make just enough soup to cover just 2 nights and make a different one on the 3rd day.

In the last week or so...
Butternut squash with a hint of chilli
Sweet potato and carrot.
Roasted Red Pepper ( from a jar) and lentil.
Vegetable ( from a bag the fresh aisle) but it only cost 89p

Oh is trying to lose weight and finds that if he fills up on low fat soups, he is not inclined to eat quite as much afterwards. LOL

And it's OK, David, but I add a little milk and a lot of butter. :-D

I am a lazy so-and-so at times. :-D
