Nestlé is removing the walnut from its new line of Walnut Whips, after the price of nuts has soared.
The company has said the change is because the new chocolates will cater to people who do not enjoy nuts - but some think it is due to a new wave of 'shrinkflation' which causes chocolates to be smaller due to ingredient price increases.
UK prices of walnuts rose 20per cent earlier this year - and the company has now decided to remove nuts from its new chocolates.
The new chocolate is being referred to as a "Walnot Whip". :-D

I demand my Nut on the top :-( :-(

I think the new chocolate should be called the 'I Think I'll Get Something Else'!

They will be removing the Turkish delight
out of the Turkish delights to soon

or maybe the hole from the Polos :-( :-(

Sharron Report 24 May 2018 11:47

A Turkish Delight bar without the Turkish delight wouldn't be very filling, you would need to fill it with walnuts or something.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 24 May 2018 11:55

I wonder if they will reduce the price :-( :-(

I don't like nuts and big surprise I've never bought a walnut whip!! I don't need packets of peanuts to declare they might contain peanuts either :-)

Umm, I had a job putting the nuts on walnut whips once! :-\

This was alternated with putting hundreds and thousands on mallow cones -
to relieve the boredom! :-S :-\ :-\

The international food companies have gradually removed a whole lot of chocolate pleasures I hate them for it. Maybe we could arrange a meeting with Peaky Blinders in Bourneville.

Five Boys , Bournville dark chocolate with nuts, the soapy mess that is now Cadbury's, Black Magic, Fry's, Rowntree where are you at our hour of brexit need?

And now the walnut whip. Shame.

They could try selling them with / without the nut adding a bit for the nut. Or maybe there is a biz opportunity here for an indie confectionary company..

At least in France "Le Petit Ecolier" is safe and Lidl has a reasonable ersatz for it in the UK.

Nuts, oh hazel nuts .....

A Walnut whip without a walnut is equal to a carton of milk without milk in it.

I haven't (knowingly) bought anything made by Nestles for years. (ethical reasons)
Cadbury's has gone downhill since Kraft took it over.
My favourite chocolate is now Montezuma's or Black & Green.

I haven't eaten mass manufactured chocolate for many many years ........... since I discovered how much better chocolates made by local companies and artisan are.

My memory may be playing tricks but didn't walnut whips had a half a walnut at the bottom of it and the other half on top :-S .... 60/70s?

If I am remembering correctly then when did they change to just a half on the top?
