Ontario Margaret, and like you still very hot. No rain for us today though some did get a bit...and yes it's going to feel in the 40's all week.
We have no insulation in our old house but do have AC thank goodness, so Margaret I feel for you.
Didn't some parts of BC get snow today though??

Our house is also too old to retrofit. I just have a portable AC in the spare bedroom which keeps the bedrooms quite cool but not the rest of the house. It's 28 now in the kitchen and living room.

SylviaInCanada Report 2 Jul 2018 22:04

ugh!!!

Do you have air conditioning??

We don't, except in houses built within the last 5-10years. It was never considered necessary as we would only have 3 or 4 days of oppressive heat over about 28.

But things have changed :-(

Our house is too old to easily retro-fit, so we make do with fans (tower and tabletop) in every room.

I'm not sure where Caroline is but here in Eastern Ontario it's murder. Temperature mid 30's, humidex making it feel like mid 40's. No relief in sight until Friday and it's only Monday!!!

SylviaInCanada Report 2 Jul 2018 20:00

It didn't cool down for you did it????

Caroline

Caroline Report 2 Jul 2018 11:31

it turned out to be a very nice afternoon ............. about 18-19C but sunny, with high white clouds.

The dark clouds came back around 7 pm, temperature dropped, and it might even be a bit chilly watching the fireworks!

yes, it was last New Year that was so cold ................

we had one of the most difficult train trips back from Halifax to here, with train equipment freezing or breaking, and all trains having to go at a slower speed because of the rails icing up. Temps were -25 to -35C all across the country to BC.

We were nice and cosy on the train though :-)

Well lots of visitors were there for New Year bless they can't handle it....right now feels like 43 but a lovely warm/blast furnace type light breeze....well looks like it from my AC house. :-D :-D

Will venture out again later.

Margaret .............

I heard expressions of concern about that.

Made me think back to New Year one year (???last year), when NY celebrations were cancelled or changed because it was too COLD!!!!!

It's cloudy, about 12/13C here (about 9:15 am) ............... warnings of taking rain jacket and/or umbrella if you go out!

Happy Canada Day!!!!!!

Here in Ontario the temperature will be in the mid 30's today with the humidex making it feel like mid 40's. There's a lot of concern about the Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill where thousands are expected to attend.

I remember the last move we made overseas was in 41 deg temperature and OH said 'Never again.'

True to his word, he has been away from home when the kids and I moved twice again.

Now I can't get him to shift from our current house which is really too big for two of us.

I do like a man of his word ..... Sometimes. :-D
