B8b, noooo!

Bridget was quite eccentric in many ways but the kindest, nicest woman. She was outspoken and said what she thought but her family and friends, including me and my son, thought the world of her. The eulogies from her daughters, son and granchildren, were so funny and revealing, I think we all learned more than we ever knew about her.

Liz, one of my Tuesday coffee pals, living alone, now in her eighties and a friend for more than 50 years, also lives on ready meals - the only time she ever buys potatoes, for instance, is for her family coming on Christmas Day.

I admire your deceased friend if only for the plates business cos there's someone who knew how to pare down housework to a minimum. :-)

Sharron, will this make you feel a little better?

A dear friend of mine, a doctor, who died this year, didn't like to cook. Once she was on her own she lived on ready meals. Apparently she decided plates didn't need washing as long as she put them straight into the fridge till next use lol She didn't die from food poisoning!

It could be a euphemism but who knows what for?

Not sure how they're aware of my slattern-like habits, but occasionally, I get a bloke phoning me, offering to clean my oven :-0

I wouldn't take him up on his offer, though, as he sounds like a rough Ross Kemp!

I'm with Maggie and Quentin Crisp.

I usually wait until OH can stand it no longer and I mention getting it cleaned professionally ... then, hey presto, miraculously it gets cleaned without silver crossing palms. :-D

everything that comes off is in the dishwasher
and the top sprayed with flash bleach and left for half an hour

Going to rub the top over with Kitchen roll and put the loose bits back together
and its done gleaming :-D :-D

Get to our age cleaning ovens or anything else is not important so long as you're happy that's what really counts! :-D

Wish I was like that.

Even when I haven't been mad I have never been that particular about my oven but I have never, ever had my bath get into the condition it was before I did the washing soda job on it.

I have to have my oven sparkling
If it comes loose it goes in the dishwasher

and once a month I use Oven Pride on it :-D
