Bridesmaids tried on their dresses tonight and with some slight alterations to the straps they’ll be perfect. One thing down another 900 to go.

Bridesmaid causing havoc with the hen night now. There is a shopping street in Edinburgh called George Street and the shops and restaurants are for the most part very nice and so are the prices. Her query was which one of these George Street restaurants takes my fancy??? Answer none of them as I want everyone to be able to comfortably afford it. So where do I want to go clubbing after dinner???? Nowhere as most of us are in our 30s and 40s now and most of them have young children under 7 years. Dinner and cocktails good clubbing bad. Cue a few oh buts and I have what I want.

Now to tell troublesome bridesmaid that she’s not staying over the night before the wedding and the other bridesmaid is. This is nothing to do with the trouble she might cause especially when alcohol is around and more to do with space and practicality. Bridesmaid one stays 10 miles outside the city with husband, 2 small children and one car. Bridesmaid 2 stays 2 miles away in the city with mum, stepdad and 2 cars as well as handy bus service which runs between the 2 houses every 20 minutes on a Saturday.

Gretna Green has many advantages.

Are bridesmaids close relatives. Make sure they know you are in charge. It is not a 'knees up' for them it is YOUR day. Make sure you enjoy it.

Bridesmaids are friends and not family. I’ve told a couple of other friends what I want for my hen night too just so I get the message across. Everything will be alright on the night as they say.

9 weeks to go and my hairdresser has just pulled out. Now to find another one for 9 weeks time when it’s also ladies day at the races. The hotel said that they would have flowers for the top table when we booked. They have just announced they won’t be doing that now either cue more panic as the florist hasn’t got back to me to say if she has time to add a top table display to the list. :-( :-( :-(

I spotted it and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. :-0

RR perhaps jealous?

I can't think of any other reason as Mersey's post was innocuous.

So, be brave for once, RRer; let's have your reason for your action.

Tawny Report 30 Mar 2019 13:15

Apologies Mersey but your post had vanished before I got a chance to read it. Fingers crossed everything works out in the end.

My wife and I never once disagreed until we married. Now almost 40 years on
there's hardly a day goes by without a ding dong :-D

Gawd, David!!! :-0

My Mum wondered whether we would make it down the aisle as we argued all the time. :-0

I think she secretly put the flags out when we managed. :-D

Take heart, David. Talking at work one day, many moons ago, we all believed that if a married couple never argued it was because one always gave in, We all knew a couple like that and the one who stepped back every time was the one who ended up an anxious bod. Who wants to live like that? It ought to be give and take, no matter how much you argue your corner.

I tried that old saying on my OH - happy wife, happy life - ha ha ha. :-D

Aw Tawny I feel so stressed reading your posts, I hope everything turns out well for you and Mr Owl on your big day, stay calm and enjoy it.

I remember getting married 40 years ago, we paid for the wedding ourselves (my father had passed away 3 weeks before), so it was a bitter/sweet occasion, we had to source everything ourselves in those days, flowers, cars, reception, cake, church, photographer, etc we couldn't afford more than 30 guests, we had no evening do, and we had a holiday/honeymoon a year later abroad.

I wish you and Mr Owl all the best for your future together. <3

One bridesmaid had to pull out yesterday due to her health. That I totally understand but what I don’t understand is the colourful language she used to tell me and Mr Owl where to go because I didn’t answer my phone to her. She phoned after 10pm so strangely I was in bed with my phone on silent :-( :-(

Take no notice of her she is more annoyed with being ill than she wanted to be not being able to stand by you.

Happy wedding day to you and Mr Owl and have a fabulous time with the family and friends that really care for you both. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Thank you Sue. I’m calmer than I was this morning but if she tries to contact me again after that it’s bye bye.

I have one good bridesmaid who I know will be there with me all the way.

Just try to hang on to one thought - if you know you are marrying the right person for all the right reasons - nothing else matters! You both have lots of happy years before you, your wedding day although important is just one day.

Lots of luck and best wishes.
