Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 25 Jan 2019 18:47

saw him on who do you think you are when his ancestry was traced back to royalty

he seems more pearly queen and king though !!

mind you that's casting nasturtiums on them as they are very good people who support a lot of charity

Yes his voice grates my ears too !!

I was really looking forward to this but had to turn off as I could not stand his voice and silly comments any longer. I thought he made himself look rather stupid at times.

Also saw him on WDYTYA and that was enough for me.

No, I’d rather sticks pins in my eyes. I have only seen the trailer and that was about as much I could take of his voice and antics.

A " professional cockney" if ever there was one. Didn't he win "I'm a celebrity" or something?

It's a shame so many of you don't like his voice!
It was quite interesting in a historical context.
Food, clothes etc.

Just shows, though no matter how 'posh' your deep dark ancestors were, their thousands of descendants can be all sorts :-D :-D :-D

A genealogist on the programme traced his family further back - to Rollo Ragnvaldsson, AKA Rollo the Viking :-D :-D :-D

True Maggie :-)

I read a lot of English history have done for years,
to my shame I rarely read my Scottish history :-D :-D

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 25 Jan 2019 19:23

I'm also of the belief that the majority of people alive today must have had 'posh' ancestors - purely to have survived!

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 25 Jan 2019 19:25

It is one of the best programmes I have seen and brought history to life in very imaginative way.

I enjoyed the historical content, as I share some of those ancestors too, apparently.
I already knew about the Rollo link, but not about the French King Louis iv.

Our trees will diverge next time as we share King Edward i but not ii.

But I do agree about his voice.
