A 14-year-old Coventry schoolgirl was stabbed after being chased down by a gang of more than a dozen people.

The teenager was stabbed in the neck – possibly with scissors – after being chased down by a mob of up to 15 youngsters on Wednesday night.

A 16-year-old girl has subsequently been arrested, said West Midlands Police – the latest stabbing victim in the UK.

'We were called by the ambulance service just before 6.30pm to say that a girl was bleeding from the back of her head,' said officers. :-0

BLADE RUNNERS.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid used a long and at times heated debate on knife crime in Cabinet yesterday to demand emergency funds for the police.

He was rebuffed by Philip Hammond initially, but the Times reveals that hours later the Chancellor agreed to meet him to chat about more cash.

Some Cabinet ministers felt that Javid was directly challenging not just the Treasury but the PM herself, especially after her tin-eared repetition on Monday of her claim of no correlation between crime and police numbers.

We continue to experience on a day-to-day basis in the UK: the shootings, stabbings, muggings, suicides, poverty, depression, robberies, fear, repossessions, bankruptcies, homelessness and bullying.

What we need are better answers from our elected representatives - not excuses.

What an earth is Our PM saying more police on the streets wont help solve knife crime did I here it right, more police with dogs patrolling the streets parks recreation areas that's what is needed come on how many murders has there to be before Theresa May gets her finger out .its a very frightening time & to many young people are dying now, its random attacks not all drug users .RIP <3

And now, a bit of (personal) good news from Exeter.

A granddaughter (6 years old) in the RD&E with a sudden eye infection requiring urgent surgery is the beneficiary of excellent care & attention.

Her parents take shifts being in the hospital with her. Very reassuring.

We should all contemplate the many things in life that we take for granted & for which we often show little appreciation.

I'm afraid I was right.
Alexander Lewis-Ranwell, from Croyde in North Devon, is set appear at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on Saturday after he was accused of murdering Anthony Payne, 80, and twins Dick and Roger Carter, 84.

A 27-year-old polo-playing former public schoolboy has been charged with the murders of three pensioners in Exeter, and with two offences of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Well, a 27 year old man has been arrested on suspicion - no mention of race, so can we presume he's white?

'Three brutal murders reported by the Devon police yesterday' - in the otherwise lovely small city of Exeter. Two of the deceased were elderly identical twins.

Further gruesome details to follow today, I'm sure. :-0

Dermot trust me, political candidates, anywhere in the World do that :-D

Once in a while.....enough monkeys and typewriters....they do actually achieve something...

Dermot Report 13 Feb 2019 07:23

Caroline - in my district, prospective political candidates tend to promise everyone verbally that they will reserve you a place in Heaven just for your vote.

Still, I'm in no great hurry to see if they keep that unique unwritten agreement. :-D

Is it a failure of Government or society as a whole Dermot? Let's be honest would any party have better control of it all right now??

Dermot

Dermot Report 11 Feb 2019 15:06

There is no surer sign of the failure of a government than when some people are afraid to wander about fearing attack.

Confining themselves to the home is akin to prison.

As far as I know, the Skean Dhu can be carried if in traditional
dress here in Scotland, however if travelling by air it has to be
handed over to security where it is given to the Captain of plane
for safe keeping till person has arrived at destination.

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 3 Feb 2019 13:43

In the case of a typical urban knife attack running away is not an option becasue the victim is unlikely to be aware of the imminent attack until it is far too late and in any case will not have an escape route available.

https://www.urbanfitandfearless.com/2016/09/self-defence-against-knife-attacks.html

In London at least the present knife crime does not very much affect most adults unless they are daft enough to intervene when they see an incident. Nearly all of the knife crime is mixed up with drug dealing and handy stolen urban transport such as mopeds, pizza bikes and pushbikes. The classic bad apples and other such attempts at explanation are totally wrong. Stop n search is counter productive.

Despite the propoganda that gets on the tv from time to time on ways and means to alleviate knife crime the sad truth is that it has become a fixed number in the urban territory. Those who can hide in gated streets, others develop survival strategies and the schools use the three wise monkeys option.

The police have chosen to put their resources into defeating what they call "county lines" and large scale cannabis farming. They are not winning.
