More important .

Who will fill the boots to undertake what Harry got paid to do as a royal duty......whos going to do the military stuff at Sandhurst they havnt got a royal recruit left now.

Will they get Andrew out of moth balls. and to hell with public opinion?

;-)

Kay, it will put a lot more pressure on William and Kate I think. Charles and Camilla Ann and Edward might take on some of it, but as the Queen steps back they already have enough to do and Charles is not exactly young.

It is what some people have wanted, a 'slimmed down' monarchy, but I think inevitably it will remove some of the attention that having a Royal patron brings to a number of charities.

What about Edward and Sophie Wessex taking on even more duties??

Sophie already does quite a lot both with Edward and on her own ........... she went to India last year on behalf of the Queen.

Anne already does a lot of engagements, though the media seem to rarely cover what she does.

Could Anne's husband get at least one of the military appointments? He was a Vice-Admiral in the navy before he retired.

Just a thought!

maggiewinchester Report 20 Jan 2020 23:54

Charles himself said the Royals should be slimmed down.
He probably didn't think his own son would be part of the 'slimming down', but if it suits Harry, why not?

Kay???? Report 21 Jan 2020 00:19

can you represent to another military unit at the same time,

Charles is one,
Anne,
William.
Edward,
Harry filled Philips role plus his own,
Andrew,

Maybe they will foist it on Catherine,?

The regiments are not at all happy.

But what would they do if Harry was no longer if you get the drift, they would still be left without their CinC.etc..

JoyLouise Report 21 Jan 2020 09:14

Apparently, between them, H and M carried out 126 royal duties in 2019 out of a total of 1451.

The duration of duties will have varied of course but I don't think it would be too onerous for the other 13 members of the RF who carried out duties in 2019 to divvy up those that were highlighted for H and M, with the exception of our elderly Monarch, of course.

Even if Andrew steps back in 2020, his tally for 2019 was 139 and I believe, if necessary, his duties could be absorbed too.

Diary secretaries may well have written in extra duties already but, if not, it won't take them long to include these in their already-completed 2020 diaries.

I do not doubt that work has already begun on 2021 and beyond. It makes sense to me.

I look on the RF as a well-ordered organisation.

Kay???? Report 21 Jan 2020 11:19

Despite being 93-years-old, the Queen attended 295 engagements in 2019, while Prince William carried out 220 and the Duchess of Cambridge went to 126.

so H&M did an average,

the queen was top.
Some of Wiiliams was with granny as was Catherines, and that of H&M so that lowers their sole performance.
.

So much for privacy,,,,,,,,,why is she allowing her private walk with baby to be speard wide and far,,,,I thought she wanted to be left alone...…..?

It would be a nice surprise if Prince Harry commented on this thread. :-D

Kay she never wanted to be left alone really she just wanted to call the shots it seems and one day make money from it all.....if she was truly upset by all the media coverage as we've been told yes why was she happy to parade in front of cameras yesterday?

Have any of the Canadians on this site signed the Petition to stop the
Canadian Security force helping Harry and Meghan to keep their privacy.

There are people I would want to leave me alone for sure, but it wouldn't stop me walking out with my child and being ok with people taking photos. It's the INTENT of the publicity not the publicity itself? Isn't it?

If you say 'Here's Meghan walking with Archie' that's a whole different thing to saying 'here's that woman whose taken away 'our' Harry '...isn't it?

Caroline

Caroline Report 21 Jan 2020 13:20

Yes, I have Sue why?
I have no issue with them coming here, just don't expect to do it on our backs.
We don't have enough money to pay our veterans, we have people dying of cold sleeping on the streets, we're in massive debt that even our children won't pay off etc etc....

William isn't exactly an innocent party here either ;-)

"The images that sparked a legal warning by the couple show Meghan walking with the couple’s son, Archie, in Canadian woodland. They have been used in a number of outlets, notably on the front page of the Sun, and were said to have been taken by photographers concealed in bushes.

Last year Harry accepted substantial damages and an apology from a news agency that took aerial photographs of his Cotswolds home, forcing him and Meghan to move out.

However, the new photos from Canada are said by lawyers for the Sussexes to have been part of a spate of “unacceptable” paparazzi behaviour, including attempts to photograph them inside their home using long-range lenses. "

Hopefully interest will die down eventually, when Kate has another baby, or the Queen dies and Charles is put in the spotlight, or when Andy is part of some other scandal by association, or even when people start getting a life of their own........

Kay????

Kay???? Report 21 Jan 2020 18:05

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have issued a warning over continued harassment by paparazzi photographers as they start their new life in Canada out of the spotlight.
It comes after images of Meghan were published in the media showing her taking a stroll through a public park on Vancouver Island.
The duchess can be seen smiling as she walks along with Archie and her two dogs.

:-D :-D :-D.

why didnt the met guards run them off,,,,,,,,,pehaps the media should stop giving them any coverage at all and let them employ their own person to snap and release as and when they choose......make more sense.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 21 Jan 2020 18:14

Re yesterday's photo ......

......... that is a Regional Park, well-used by the citizens of Victoria, and well-advertised as a place for visitors to go. It is incidentally a couple of miles away from where she is staying.

H&M were seen there by locals a few times over the Christmas break though minus Archie, Meghan even took the camera from a couple who were having trouble taking a selfie and took it for them. They were also photographed there at that time.

So she should not have expected there NOT to be photographers staking out that site. Of course, there might well have been locals taking photos as well.

If she had not wanted any photographs, the security men with her could have stopped it ........... though some of the photos look very grainy as though they were taken with a telephoto lens from quite a distance away.

BUT it is a public park, so you can't really stop anyone taking photos!

She may have objected to a lot of the on-line activity asking how on earth could she carry Archie like that!!!

My first thought on seeing the photo was that it was a really uncomfortable way for her to carry him. I've seen hundreds of women carrying babies in one of those baby carriers, including family members, and none carried their child in that way, nor needed to clutch at the head!

Not only that, but I also saw some online comments re the fact that her excursion to the park coincided with William & Kate's first engagement since the agreement ............. standing in for the Queen at a reception at Buckingham Palace. :-0
