Allan Report 12 Feb 2020 22:29

It all depends on the mood OH is in :-0

Bobtanian Report 12 Feb 2020 22:41

I put socks in a "smalls" bag....they don't get lost that way

Sharron Report 12 Feb 2020 22:47

A man in the launderette said he thought his wife might be having an affair with a one legged man.She felt sorry for him so she gave him a sock,as you do.

I have honestly never lost anything in the washing machine!

Bobtanian Report 13 Feb 2020 00:09

also strange how perfectly good socks go in the machine....and come out with holes in the toes/heels???

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Feb 2020 03:38

It hasn't happened very often to us .........

........... but I've had one sock since early December and still haven't found its mate.

OH does all our washing, we don't have a dryer, and he keeps assuring me that it had to have come of the washing machine on to the dryer rack ..................... unless of course I didn't put it in the basket to begin with. :-P

Allan Report 13 Feb 2020 08:37

I suppose that it is all down to the Sock Fairy :-S

(Terry Pratchett; The Hogfather)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Feb 2020 10:01

If you put the odd sock under your pillow, does the sock fairy take it away and leave a new pair?

Island Report 13 Feb 2020 10:13

:-D :-D @Linda

I've never lost a sock in the washing machine either Liz but I still have singles :-S

maggiewinchester Report 13 Feb 2020 22:58

I just buy black socks........
At the most, I'll have 1 'unmatched' sock :-D

Island Report 13 Feb 2020 23:02

I'm not to proud to wear odd socks :-D

Allan Report 13 Feb 2020 23:12

The good thing about wearing odd socks is that you usually have a similar pair at home :-0

SylviaInCanada Report 14 Feb 2020 03:27

maggie ......

........ most of my socks are black, but they've been bought at different times. I think the most number of matching socks is 6 (3 pairs). That means there are about 8 socks that can be matched into 2 pairs. That's a total of 5 pairs ............... the other 10 socks only have 1 matching.

Do you know how many different shades of black there are???????????

How many different tops there are?

How many different lengths there are?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Feb 2020 08:55

I am with you there Sylvia. All my socks are black, but it really annoys me when I end up with two different types. A couple of years ago, I paired them up as best I could and donated them, then bought a whole batch of new ones. Since then I have added to them, so I am back to square one

Allan Report 14 Feb 2020 09:26

Now here's a conundrum, when you wear an odd pair of socks, even if they are composed of fifty shades of black, which sock is the odd one?

maggiewinchester Report 14 Feb 2020 10:12

Sylvia, I only have a couple of different 'types' of black socks, as I tend to buy one 'type'.
Also, even if they're different 'types' - once on - no-one, not even me - can tell the difference.

Obviously, I don't wear a long sock with a short one :-D

Bobtanian Report 14 Feb 2020 10:15

I once had two pairs of identical shoes, one black pair, one brown.pair.

yep one time I had to got hospital for a family emergency....and yep i was wearing one black and one brown.

as Allan says the pair at home were odd, as well!!
