50 metres on your own means only one person out walking the dog for 50 metres. You need to clear up after the dog and disinfect the area

UK are catching up with us - all pubs, nightclubs and restaurants etc to close from tonight there and just like here only takeaways allowed.

All shops except those as chemists and food shops have closed here and this is being policed and some fined. Quotas of visitors in shops and banks. All tourists gone by the weekend and virtually no planes onto the island for a month. The hotels are going to be used as isolation units.

So much for self isolation and social distancing :-|

Having been to both Bondi and Manley beaches, I can't understand why they are so 'famous' :-S

Blackpool, without the tower and funfair, springs to mind ;-)

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 20 Mar 2020 23:57

Will they have to close the beaches?

Allan

Allan Report 21 Mar 2020 00:02

They can, but I don't know how they will police a closure.

Some people have all the social responsibility of things that slither in slime, and fractionally fewer brain cells

So true! The 'I'm alright it won't affect me' deniers, and the spivs, buying up baby formula to sell at 100 times it's worth. :-|

I had to explain what a spiv was to my 37 year old daughter, tonight.
She can't find a bl**dy thermometer anywhere. :-| :-| :-|

Your daughter will have to watch some old black and white war time films, Maggie :-D

'On the Fiddle' with Sean Connery was a good one

I will suggest it to her, Allan, but it will have to be in between episodes of Dr Who (5 year old who loves her 10 year old Dr Who obsessed cousin) and Peppa Pig (two and a half year old).
Self isolation is soooooo much easier on your own :-D :-D :-D

Well, the beach and others has now been closed

Is it true that Oz scientists have successfully treated some CV19 patients, Allan?

Allan

Allan Report 21 Mar 2020 09:37

It's hard to separate fact from fiction, but all the reports are of doom and gloom, so I would take that report with a pinch of salt.

If it was true the media would now be crowing about Australian ingenuity beating the rest of the world.

However, I would be ecstatic if I were to be mistaken :-D

Allan

Allan Report 21 Mar 2020 09:42

I did find this but it has not yet been reported elsewhere

I think that the sample size is way too small, and there is no indication of whether or not these patients would have recovered without intervention.

My glass is half empty :-(

I was thinking about how easy it is going to be to keep people apart and I can't help tho have thinking that we have been lucky to have the virus here when the weather is not wonderful.

No doubt it will be considerably more difficult where the country is in summer.
