Don't know much about art but have a daughter who's good at it. I do go to art galleries. Wildlife I was bought up watching wildlife programmes. Saw David Attenborough in the 50s, Hans and Lotte Hass also Armand and Michaela Denis.

Used to go to an old gravel pit to watch newts, it was on Bentley Moor - now it's the M6 :-(

I am absolutely useless at drawing and painting while a good friend is an artist who exhibits and sells. (Von met her when we were in London.)

I do remember talking with my friend about it. She was surprised that I 'had been taught properly' as she put it, cos she knew how useless I was at it. But my brain works fine - the theory is lodged there, alas, the talent is missing. :-(

Island, you would have been welcome ... and we'd have shared our food and drink.

Joy, training and talent are no good without practice. A sketch a day keeps the doubt away. ;-)

I don't hold with art being something we need to 'know about'. I had the training and can identify various painters and movements. But really 'art' is in us all, singing, dancing, painting, acting...….. doing your hair and make up...… it's about expressing ourselves and enjoying it for us - it doesn't matter what others think.

Dancing - I'm there, Island. :-D

Singing - I enjoy belting a song out but I can put others off, or so I am told. :-D

I did, however, do the plans for the first extension on our house (twenty or so years ago) and they were acceptable to the inspectors. Took them along and fluttered my lashes, I did. ;-) :-D

Reading back quickly, I like singing, dancing, sewing and drawing. I prefer pencil, pen and ink as opposed to charcoal.

I started taking the kids to art galleries and museums from a young age, to open their eyes to possibilities. Then the choice was theirs. One loved them, the other did not. :-D
