I'll have to do more research on OH's Yorkshire mining Carr relations. They go back to mid 18th century Yorkshire. The cross over marriage was in the early 19th and I didn't follow them for too long.

We''ve not been invited to meet Alan.
:-( ;-)

I remember that, names. I wonder whether he's back because he and Amanda Holden are related? I have no idea where she was born but Holden (if it is her real surname) is a Lancashire surname, I believe.

Carr is from the North East which saw an influx of miners from places like Lancashire and Cornwall's tin miners, via South Wales. I'm afraid I can't remember whether his ancestors were mainly North Easterners or not.

I hope it's as good as the Flintoff/Redknapp one.

Seems a bit odd to me do use Alan Carr as WDYTYAre did him a few years ago.

I watched too. I thought it a shame that they missed an opportunity to show how Albert

Flintoff would have also been awarded a silver badge indicating that he had been

discharged from the army and why these badges had been introduced.

Like you Joy I dislike it when researchers don’t do their job properly especially now when so much is online.
I am looking forward to Alan Carr though.

I thoroughly enjoyed last night's DNA Journey with Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff. The banter between the two of them was great. Their stories were interesting and their reactions to it all was very funny!

A little off the subject but I haven't seen anything as funny for ages as Harry & Jamie Redknapp's participation in Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway a couple of Saturdays ago. they had me howling with laughter!

I've only watched a bit of that so far but I did spot one glaring error very early on, pertaining to the colliery that Jamie's 3 x gt gfthr worked at.

If it was Hetton Lyons Colliery then it was definitely not in Northumberland as was stated. It was within the then County Durham boundary.

I hate it when they get something as basic as that wrong because it makes me want to check everything else in the programme.

I went down a working mine not far from there and we travelled a couple of miles under the North Sea. I don't think I could have ever been an underground worker of any sort.

I watched DNA journey last night and was crying with laughter. Jamie & Freddie were so funny.

I've been down that mine and it is absolutely fascinating and I also have some Thames Watermen in my tree although not as illustrious as Royal Bargeman.
