Like you, I haven't delved deeper, as I don't want to find a link with him! :-D :-D :-D

My Gt (x2) Gt Uncle married a woman whose brother married a lady from Suffolk whose name was Corbyn. Just out of curiosity I looked at Jeremy Corbyn's ancestors and they came from the same area of Suffolk. I didn't delve deeper. I didn't want to find I had a link, however tenuous, with that particular gentleman.

No offspring that I can find.

She was a widow, in her late 40s/early 50s, and I haven't found any children born to her previous marriage(?s)

....and Wyatt Earp's uncle shared his DNA!!!

There was (may still be in some branches) a rumour that a daughter or granddaughter of the family that moved from Australia to California later married Wyatt Earp ............ a famous lawman in the American mid-West.

When I searched it out, she married Wyatt Earp's uncle, but yes, her married surname was Earp. :-D

He grew up on Cumberland street and ended in Sholing with his own family.

Should have known it wasn’t OH’s family as they were RN. I have closer RN history with a different bit of family. Again the engine room, but this time a PO went down at Jutland.

Chapel and St Mary's are right next to each other!
My grandparents were married in St Mary's.
G g grandad,(master mariner), g grandad (another master mariner) and grandad (dock worker) after him, lived in Ransom's Terrace, which was later renamed to be part of Albert Road. Then it was bombed in the war.

My other g grandparents lived in Northcote Road, Portswood.

As a teenager, I lived in Freemantle, but then moved to Portsmouth :-D

Off the top of my head as I am back downstairs and the computer is upstairs. At 11he was living in St Mary’s. He was a Fireman on the Titanic, so probably never stood a chance. His father was also a seaman.

It would be interesting to know where he lived :-D

It had nothing to do with OH's seafaring family but is 'in the story of my family'.
Chap has the same surname as my old Soton relatives - must work at irt and make the connection.

I call these distant rellies 'loose family ties' .

Nameslessone, quite a lot of the crew from the Titanic came from the 'Chapel' area of Southampton where my grandad/great grandad lived.

My other 'Southampton' great grandad was a ship's steward for White Star Lines. Fortunately, he didn't go on the Titanic - I expect g gran said 'NO'!
Had all gone well, it would have meant him being away for over 2 weeks.

Oh for sure Maggie it's close enough of a connection....after all others have done worse having rellies everywhere :-D

I've just had a thought.
There's an actress with the same surname as my maiden name.
My dad was adopted when he was 16, to, I eventually worked out, to this actresses great, (or could be great great) uncle.
I've never met her - but I have met her grandad (she would have been 6 when I first started working with him)

Can I call her a 'rellie'?

At my gran's funeral (mum's mum), her brother and sister, and their families were one side, we were the other.
Nothing to do with us cousins, everything to do with our parents :-0

However, it was hilarious when my sister in law, Caroline, realised she knew one of our cousins - Caroline had been her mentor when she was in nurse training :-D
Cousin hadn't 'twigged', Caroline's unusual surname was that of her aunt, uncle and cousins :-D
The look on the parent's faces when they started chatting and having a laugh was hysterical
Just like to say, Caroline only came along because our brother was moanng about having to see the relations, and she wanted to see them too!.

She is rather hilarious.
My ex has 7 living relations in this country - our children and grandchildren.
When he got married, at the local sustainability centre (available for camping, weddings and funerals, my sister's late husband is buried there) to *checks notes* wife number 3, he invited my side of the family to this wedding (we have been divorced for over 30 years, but he's still invited to family gatherings with 'other')

A lot of us turned up (at least 15). My sister, daughter, grand daughter (aged 16) and Caroline were in the kitchen. A friend of the bride was in the doorway, chatting to them, I was waiting to get into the kitchen.
This friend of the bride (fob) was trying to work out who they were.
My sister said her husband and my ex were best friends.
'Oh', said fob, 'Is he here?' Before my sister could say anything, Caroline said, 'Yes', he's buried over there'.
Sister's face was in a grimace, trying not to laugh and grand daughter was in tears in the background, trying not to laugh out loud.

To change the subject, fob turned to me, and asked who I was.
My sister, trying to deflect the obvious said 'My sister',
Caroline just came out with 'The grooms first wife'. Fob looked confused, said nothing, and went away.

OH's grandma's cousin married Eric Kemp Langton, a speedway rider. Again, we didn't know about him, but one of OH's cousins did. And of course once I started to research that line, it's all there on Google.
